Scary noises from my '00 RS drivetrain...

Hi guys,

I'd love to know if anybody else with a 5 speed is hearing the same noises I am. It seems that anytime I'm in the snow/ice and there is wheel slippage during braking or acceleration, I hear this strange knocking sound below the shift lever. It sounds like a pool ball is knocking around in there, sometimes it's slow and sometimes it's fast. It's not an intense destructive crashing sound but it's loud enough to worry me. Does this sound normal to you guys.

I personally have yet to experienced what you had. I think you might want to take it to the dealership and have them look at it.

It's hard to understand your situation since I live in Cali, maybe ABS or rear LSD.

Hmmm, sounds like a loose tranny mount or a missing tranny mount plate. At least that's what the sound your discribing reminds me of. I'd check that out.
