Motor replacement simply is NOT as straight forward as many might imagine. Murphy's Law begins to hold more truth than ever before. I wish you the best of luck in your motor build. Try to take things with a grain of salt when and if they don't go as planned. For gods sake if you find the hole you dug starting to get deeped, climb out before you're in over you head. If this begins to happen, get in touch with someone who has experience heading down this road. Like I said it gets bumpy.

So they took it apart... Either oil pump died or there was not enough oil.
Also my RH head is messed up, the journals on the intake side are ruined. So I have a choice of getting 1) cosworth heads $3650 or 2) 1 stock head $650 +1 stock $210 cam. I can't really afford #1 without debt... wondering what I should do.

get the karboy with shifter bushings and some steering rack bushings. you will enjoy it.
Nick, he does know what he is talking about. I think he is on his fifth motor or something. Hopefully it all goes smoothly though and the car is back to normal soon.

Hmmm....must have been those maps, huh?
I'd lean more towards the lack of oil. Knowing how often the Wagon needed top offs on the oil. You really need to keep an eye on the levels.
