Unhappy my 06 STI is dead help :( !!!

I was driving on the highway going 65 and then I noticed I was not getting any power... so i downshifted and pressed on gas again and the RPMs would not go up... all the sudden clunking noise and the engine died, i opened the hood and there was some smoke and it smelled like clutch burning. The car has 40k miles and its out of warranty, I had it towed to Subaru of Santa Cruz... One friend thinks it is timing belt. What do you guys think? The dealership will only be able to look at it on Tuesday.

Hmmm crappppppp I should have towed it to my house and removed the DP / Exhaust / Intake / ECU flash. Too late now... They will prob try and deny it.
Thought it only lasted till 30k and it has 40k.

So engine is seized up (for a yet unknown reason), they are going to do a warranty claim with SO@... if its failed I am most likely going to get a built block from GST

Maybe tuning it yourself was not the best idea.

I hope it works out for you and that you get your car back up quickly

I had XPT map loaded, didn't make it my self. I asked another another tuner about it and he said that even if it was a horrible tune the problems would appear later on at higher millage and this is most likely a mechanical fault.

It all eventually comes down to the tune that you did on it. You were messing around with a lot of stuff. Subaru engines don't just seize up like that. You would have heard of others doing it if it was somthing mechanical but I have never heard of another 06 doing that.
