makes sense, taking the thinking away from driving. . . not sure if that's a good thing or not.

i think the only real need for going into 1st gear at rolling or 10mph is for pure performance driving or autocrossing. the legacy primary will be people who place performance secondary to luxury/comfort.

I drove the legacy GT with both transmissions last week and even though I've driven manuals all my life, to be honest the 5EAT really fascinated me. I'll give you that the shifting seems a little delayed but I was thinking for a little bit (don't worry it didn't hurt too much) and figured that in the manual if you slip the clutch a little, so the ride is a little smoother, the shifting time gets pretty close as far as going from fully engaged drivetrain to fully engaged drivetrain. Plus there is somebody out there figuring out how to shorten the shift times so that the car turns into a factory produced paddle shifting racecar with styling and refinement.

I test drive both as soon as they came to the dealer. I first test the Std with 30 miles on it and I really like the car (I sold my STi for a GT). Then I try the 5EAT with only 12 miles and I feel the car unresponsive and a lot slower than the MT. I made the order for an MT (My car is supposed to arrive first week of September).
Last week I try the 5EAT this time with 1245 miles and man what a difference the car behaves completly different and feel excellent. I changed my order for a 5EAT.
My advice to everyone try the 5EAT when the car have more than a 1000 miles.

It does, my wrx shifts much more agressively now than it did when i first bought it.

If KIA has it in their cars, i'm absolutely certain that our ecu does the same =P
