Thanks but by 5pm today a new Black Legacy GT Wagon 5-spd should be in the driveway to share residence with the 330.

On the www.LegacySTi.com forums, there is a whole thread on the 5EAT, and how it is most likely the same tranny as the one used in the Infiniti FX45, which puts out 315hp/329 lb-ft of torque from a 4.5L V8. So to answer the question of how much power the tranny can withstand, a lot of us think it can more than safely handle at least up to what the FX45 puts out.
The link to the thread is: http://www.legacysti.com/viewtopic.php?t=1763
The two tranny's have the same EXACT ratios excluding final drive. I don't want to basically retype out the entire story, but there is a significant amount of edvidence that the LGT 5EAT is the same as the FX45's.

The high gear ratio will give you more top speed. But you have to factor in the drivetrain loss from the automatic. It takes more horse power to drive a automatic So to make it as quick or as fast as a 5speed it would have to come with more HP. The automatics don't come with more HP. So they are not quicker or faster. Sorry.

AT's maintain a 98-99% of the power at the drivetrain and don't take as much of a loss as they used to. The manual has a gear ratio of 3.54 and the AT is 4.11.
I won't make any conclusions.... you guys can make them urselves.

for me its foreign because i drive a 6 speed everyday- i missed the clutch in the legacy-
but due to the market this car is aiming for the automatic is a nice and refreshing alternative to those looking for a luxury car with excellent performance without the xtra work of a clutch.

Well with the Manual I got locked out of First gear.. Which sucked, It was a brand new car.. The Sport shift is nice but I wonder can I fry the Tranny?
I'm not too Keen on droping it in First when going 20 Mph unless you like you stuff to fly forward.
