Okay maybe i forgot the best part. They took care of it all under warranty. I just told them I heard about the TSB and told them what is was all about.

From reading other posts i thought they would check it out then complain alittle bit then take forever to do anything i.e. take 3 weeks to get the parts but they did the whole thing in 6 hours. They didnt even call to tell me what the deal was before they did the repair.

The day i dropped it off i test drove an STi and was pumped about the car but wasnt ready to do anything about but now after having such a pleasant experence with thier service department im buying my second one from them ASAP. Well as soon as i can let go of my baby.

I dont know what the warranty problem is. SOA pays for the repairs no the dealership and then opn top of that they get a higher rate per hour for repairs. Sounds like a no brainer to me.

I brought my car to the dealership around 2 and half weeks for the clutch judder problem and I even brought with me a copy of the TSB hoping I would actually get some results(the 1st time I brought the car in for this issue they tried to repilcate the problem, couldn't make it judder and sent me on my way).

I drive a MY02 WRX so they checked to make sure that my VIN # fell within the TSB list of affected cars, they confirmed that it did and told me they would look at the clutch. They gave me the old "if find any marks on the flywheel indicating racing or abuse it's coming out of your pocket". I told them that would fine, So 3 days later they call me up to tell me that the fly wheel looked fine and it doesn't need to be replaced.

It still has the same issues in the morning before the car gets warmed up, my question is if the car falls within the TSB's VIN # list wouldn't every car built that's falls on the TSB have the faulty parts installed on it? I don't see how one car would have "good" parts while another one get's the S**ty ones.

I know this may seem like a stupid question, but does anyone have a working link to the TSB? I need that when I confront my service department (Langston Subaru, Murrysville, PA). The service reps there are a little squirrely, and when I talked to one of them on the phone, the guy sounded reluctant. He didn't know what cars the TSB applied to, and he said even if it applied to my car, the problem would have to be bad enough to warrent replacing. He said that the car would really have to be shaking around. I don't want to leave anything to chance. Thanks for the help,
NDM

Let me tell you guys somehting. The entire thing is ridicu;ous. This problem along with noise wheel bearings that I think have issues and a already failed ABS system that was replaced under warranty but still has quirks to it. It all adds up to a pretty crappy experience for me.

MY car definitly falls under the cars affected by the shudder issue caused by ythe clutch. I told the dealer abotu it but they did not even look at it. And it is becoming more and more of a common thing every time I start driving. It is especially noticable when I have the AC on for some reason.

My car is at 41K miles and I am not sure if they would replace the clutch or bad parts for free anymore. But I think it is a joke cause they sold all these cars with falty parts and they should take them all back and replace the falty parts. The car company has not showed me much in the way or value and bascking its product up.

Here are a list of my issues:

1) ABS does not work properly and when I hit a bump under breaking I lose breaking for some reason (Alread had ABS module replaced)

2) Clutch Shudder every time I first start driving the car. This should be replaced without hasstle if your VIN falls in the range of cars with issues.

3) Wheel bearings or somehting associated wit hthe wheels is makign a lot of noise. Dealer says they hear it but can not figure out what it is. Well they should be able to figure it out. I hear the wheel bearings suck on WRXs so that is probably the problem but nobody fixed it when teh car was broguht in under warranty.

4) I have electrical issues. For some reason my car does not stay above 12V when I have the AC and lights on. Sometimes it jsut drops for no reason but it does it most often when it is raining. I had it in to the dealer he said nothing was wrong and it was al the proper levles but when I come to a light and it drops to 11 volts I knwo somehting is wrong. Yet I am told the alternator is fine and a new one is $500. That is insane. They should have looked throguh my electrical system to see if something else was causing the problem.

I love my car but in the same sence I can not take the quality issues and the problems that have come along with it. This is why I am between the idea of sellign it and gettign something different.

Had this problem with my 02 WRX, took it to Carlsen's in Redwood City, and they replaced clutch, flywheel, and 1st gear syncro. I bought this car used and guess it always had this problem, because nows its lik ea totally different car. the shifting and clutch grab points have gone from erratic, and jerky to smooth.

They had my car for a whole week, but it was well worth it.

Ok, just got my car back from Langston Subaru. I thought they were gonna give me hell, but actually it was very easy. I left the car there overnight and when the service manager drove it the next morning, he said it "juddered". I had to leave it there for 4 days, though, because they had to order the parts (clutch kit). When I got the car back, the clutch was better than new. I catches about two inches off of the floor, NEVER slips (even on chilly and wet mornings), and the car seems to have slightly more power than before. But I'm just happy I didn't have to pay the $573 dollars it would have costed had it not been under warranty.

Albany Subaru

I just got my clutch replaced today. However, on the work order, only the following were replaced.

30210AA570 COVER CP CLU
30100AA840 DISK CP CLUT

My 02 only has 26K miles and the service manager told me this is a new clutch basically. I just want to see if he is telling the truth or not because I've seen others with a longer list.

Thanks!!

The throwout bearing also should have been replaced. Did they give you an explanation of why the flywheel wasn't replaced? It's part of the TSB as well. The TSB does say that cars with 30k miles+ don't need a new flywheel (although they included it in my replacement at 34k).

No explanation of any kind because I went there pretty late to pick up my car and only 1 person was working apparently. Oh well, I guess I will live with it. I mean I am just being a greedy @ss anyway, since the clutch shudder problem really isn't a big deal for me since it happens so infrequently. Thanks though!

cool thanks, hopefully the dealer will accept that. i had seen on the subaru website you can download the service bulletins in .pdf format. thats what i was shooting for, but this will work just as good. i talked to the dealer about it and they had no idea about this service bulletin. looks like i will have my work cut out for me trying to get them to honor it.

No dice with the dealer. they said no about it. i have 58k and they had said if i had brought it in before 36k, they would have fixed it. they told me to call SOA about it. guess i'm SOL now.

I have a 2000 2.5RS and I just got enlightened to this by a friend. I have 55k on my car and I want to get this done because it has done this since I bought my car. This was my first manual car so I thought it was normal and never said anything. I called one dealer, they said no. I am going to call one other dealer before calling SOA. What is the verdict on being covered under power train?

By the way, I have a pdf that is the original (not the scanned one that is being posted). If you want it send me a message with your email address.
