Ok, let's see if I got this straight... you took the car in, they duplicated the problem the same day, ordered the parts, they arrived the next business day (not as difficult as it sounds) and you have them installed.. why exactly do you sound so upset? Did you read this entire thread? Anyways, They probably installed the clutch disc and pressure plate wrong. They are balanced against each other and have to be aligned.

The parts were "ordered" on a late friday afternoon and I got the call that they were in on monday morning around 9 am. That seems like half a business day to me, does that seem right? They can recieve a whole clutch assembly in less than half a day and I'm still waiting over a week for the defective driver's side motor. How does that make sense? All I'm saying is that the dealership should be more honest with there customers. After all you did spend only 25k on a car. Isn't that the least that they could do?

And yes the chattering was duplicated in less than one day, actually in less than 3 hours. That seems kinda funny, I've never experienced that.

I don't know what Subarus order deadline is, but Toyota's was 3:30 when I worked there, and any part ordered that was in stock in the San Rafael warehouse was ther the next morning at 6:30. There are quite a few of these clutch assemblies being ordered, so I'm sure the local warehouse has plenty. Window regulators are a different story. That may or may not be there. Hopefully you aren't waiting for a boat to arrive.

Anyway, I didn't intend to defend the dealer. If they suck, they suck. But all in all, you didn't have all that bad an experience with your claims compared to those in other pages of this thread.

Took my '02 RS in today to complain about the clutch shudder that's been getting progessively worse. I didn't even know about the service bulletin! I check the i-Club AFTER dropping off my car, THEN found this thread!

I was curious to find out what the dealer would say. But I armed myself with a print out of the TSB for backup. As I was reading the rest of this thread, I got a call from the dealer. They said they would replace the clutch and flywheel, next Tuesday. Good enough for me!

That is a scan of the actual TSB page straight from the dealer book. It is shown on page 8 of this thread.

I had that problem also. Irvine Subaru fixed it in a matter of hours.
I seems that the metal clutch line was touching the engine when it was engaged. They simply tweaked it out of the way.

My Dealer Rocks

Well I dropped my car off this morning for them to look at my car to see what parts they needed and if they would cover it under the TSB and do it for free. Remember my car has 65K miles but I did have the problem documented at 30K.

I got the call that my car was done just a few min ago. I called back asking what the verdict was and he said it was done. I asked done, done or you need to order parts? He said no it's done we thought we might need the parts and while we were ordering parts for another guy we ordered yours too and put them in. We figured you would not want to have to drop off the car again.

I've said it before, I have a pretty good dealer w/ a very good service department. Thanks Dale Martin Subaru

Talking

AutoWest Mazda/Subaru in Sacramento (Automall) just told me they would fix my problem. I just called them and explained the symptoms, no sweat whatsoever from the service guy. Happy camper indeed!

Quick update

Just drove my car home. It's very humid here and raining on and off. Good test to see if the problem is gone. No shudder and the clutch catches very low to the floor now. The pedal is noticably easier to push too. It's almost like I have to relearn how to drive it

Typically no, it should be ok. If it's worn they would probably do that too, but it should last 60,000 miles normally.

Just be sure to mention it when you go back in. Sounds like SOA should authorize it.
