My dealer said it was cool to go with the STi parts (clutch disc, flywheel), only that I would cover the difference in price. They are one of the largest dealers on the East Coast, so I feel okay about it. Does anyone know the physical difference between WRX and WRX STi transmission components?
Does anyone have experience with this swap?
Be it that both would be genuine Subaru (STi) parts, I assume the warranty would still hold true. Any Suby techs have any thoughts? Thanks.

are you sure about the flywheel thing. i know its worded weird and i thought the same thing about under 30k but that makes no sense that you would have the flywheel replaced under 30k but not over it. anyway yeah it works great and it was all free so it didn't cost me anything

Please help me out guys. I took my car to the dealer to have my clutch checked and just got in a big argument with the guys down there. I told them the problem and they said that all of us talking about the clutch shutter problem don't know what we are talking about. He says that we just think we have a problem. I told them about the TSB report and he said that that doesn't really matter. According to him, none of us have a problem. He said that we are all not good drivers and don't really know how to drive our cars right. He told me to come in next monday and leave it over night. But i don't think they are going to do anything. Can anyone give me some advice on what to do? Please help me out please!!!!! I don't want them screwing me over with this. Thanks

Just take it to another dealer, even if it's inconvenient. Getting the fix is more important than 'beating' the other dealer. Even though you'll be sure to take your work order down and prove to them they were wrong.

Hi all,
I'm going to take my 2002 WRX in this week to see if they'll replace my clutch. They want to keep the car overnight to reproduce the problem in the morning. It's getting pretty warm here and I only had the shudder 3 times last week. What if they can't reproduce the problem? What happens? And has anyone ever dealt with Livermore Subaru with this problem? They're usually reliable but I'm scared they'll tell me there's nothing wrong.

If they suggested that you leave the car overnight to help produce the problem, chances they will, even if they don't. Looks like they are just trying to follow the rules, even though they know they need to replace your clutch.

I've got the same problem. I even left my car for a week, and they said they couldn't repeat the problem once. Of course that was the week where we had the hottest weather here in raleigh NC. Any suggestions as to what i should do about getting this fixed.
The day after i brought the car back the shudder came back because of the cold morning i had. what am i supposed to do about this???

All 2002MY and some
2003MY 2.0L WRX Vehicles
With only 7600 miles though, the shudder may not be occuring yet. Go ahead and buy it if you have no other reasons not to, and if it eer shows up in the future you will be covered. Well, depending on how old the car is. What month/year was it originally bought?
