4EAT Transmission?
Now what is a 4EAT transmission? I know its an automatic, but how does it work? Clutches? Torque Converter? Hybrid (Torque Converter + Clutches)?

I have an 07 2.5i. Im wondering is the split 35 front and 65 rear, if it is taking out the front cv's and diff making it rear wheel for drift events? would i need to weld center diff?

Car Info: 1999 Legacy Brighton Wagon
I have a 1999 Legacy Brighton Wagon. It has the 4EAT AWD transmission. It hass an MPT style transfer clutch, the front of the rear drive shaft connects it to the rear wheels.
My Service Manual states it has very nearly 50/50 torque split front-to-rear "assuming equal friction and tire diameters" And also assuming all those electronic boxes and sensors are working! So far, so good...
I understand it to be a four speed automatic with a lock-up torque converter. or
as wrxchase said.
It's my first Subie and I am hooked! What's not to like about it? Haven't found anything yet.
