Well the fuel is obviously no joke becuase i can smell it in his tank but the race was avioded for dubious reasons this week and now we are hoping he will actually run on this coming wednesday.

Hell... I'll drive it to the track just to get times :P

The funniest thing yet is he thought the wrx was a 15 second car... I almost burst out laughing but he was having a bad day so i kept my mouth shut.

Well I don't think you dog on him that much about him thinking the WRX is a 15 second car. They are many people out there who do not know how fast our subies are.

Very true. He doesn't have a clue. But he will now once I race him in the next few weeks (I'll be at Cobb Stage 2.5 very soon!).

O.T.

mmmm hmm! I had a guy in a old school Olds. try to run me. I let him get the jump on the light and then I spanked him. Afterwards he passed me and didn't even look over!

Edit: here is a WRX vs. Cobra thread I posted on another forum.

Well last night I was driving down the highway and this Mustang Cobra (2000 body style non-supercarged)) pulls up next to me. So I wanted to see what my Stock '04 WRX could do from a roll. So I dropped it into 4th flexed a little. I heard him drop down some gears. It hopped so I punched my Rex. I got the pull on him from 4th then I am assuming he got it into 4th gear and he pulled on me about half a car lenth, then I let off. This Cobra was not stock at all. It was loud as hell and I could atleast hear a intake. This was from a 60mph roll. I should have dropped it into 3rd I guess and I probbly could have done a little better. Well, not that I street race all the time so I am not promoting it, I just wanted to see what my stock rex could do. Well, I thought it wasn't to shabby for my Rex being stock. Of course he hit the flashers on my and then I took my exit. What does everyone think?? Should I have done better or got smoked??

Well its not that i dog on him for not believing me but he should at least consider the two major articles we subscribe to which are Road & Track and Car & Driver... but of course those are "real" times... (his words)

He even showed me a section on his mustang... it was under "backfires" you wanna guess what the rant was about? Old looks for old guys lol! Oh i should have mentioned the Mach 1 which is a 300hp mustang does 14.1 as their "best time" rediculous...

True True, You can look at the stuff on paper, and all the specs are there, but it baffles me how our WRX's are pretty darn fast, I mean we only have 227 hp while GT's have more and can't even beat us stock. Another things is with just a few mods our cars are beasts, and most people don't understand that. But if he has read up on stuff then yes he's just an idiot lol.

The reason we beat a Mustang GT stock is because of AWD.

yeah i see your point and i know with the slicks its prolly impossible to beat a good muscle car, I've seen my share of low to mid 10 sec camaro's and mustangs. However i know for a fact my dad doesn't have slicks and will use none. Either way it will be interesting to watch.

Car and driver posts their times with street tires btw so obviously you need to finesse the throttle to get the best times out of the car. I'm going to say if he uses street tires he's prolly going to get owned. If he uses slicks he would prolly beat the wrx.

Though if its $$ for $$ your really going to argue i would sugguest taking a look at a 99 C5 corvette. It plus slicks, intake, chip, and a lil fanagiling will give you a high 10 second car as shown by IS2Scooby in his forum over in Hawaii. All for a mere 30k which is well in your cars price range.

Oh and if your just plain insane just pick up a bike. You should be able to purchase a stock suzuki or honda 1000 for like 8-10k and stock it should easily run in the 11 sec to low 10's range depending how insane the driver really is.

NOOO!!!!!!!

dont go to the dark side...get an STi or Evo, do some mods to it and kill those V8 boys, straight at twisties!!!! Or take your WRX and do a motor swap, get a 2000 RS and do a motor swap....anything but get a mustang!!!

LOL hahahaha

Well if you get a Mustang...please dont be like them and flex on everyone just becasu you have a V8. Those guys think they rule and shouyd win every race due to the V8 power. Most of them are not good sports when I come and "burst thier bubble"....

Anyway, let us know what you decide.

ps. YES!! Bikes are sick....I can smoke a 400cc on the freeway and hang nicely with a raced out 600cc. 1000cc.....no way can I hang...and they are SWEET!!!!!!

It doesn't take a genius to figure that out, it's an AWD car!!! You could always make it a RWD car and spank all the V8's you wanted, but that's not the point of our awesome Rex's and that's not the point of this thread. I don't want my car to be the ultimate dragstrip monster, I just simply want to see how I'll match up with this Roush stage 2 (neglecting consideration of driver skill of course).

If you want to go buy a Rustang and join the world of simply straight and fast, go for it! But how boring! Sure, speed is awesome, but that speed cannot be fully appreciated without maneuverability (that's the pilot in me speaking). Constantly running the quarter mile would get old because there are very few variables (i.e. launch, good shift into second, power, etc.) compared to something like auto-x, rally, or track.

I'm almost at Cobb stage 2+, but it's simply for augmenting my spirited driving and maybe eventually (fingers crossed), some rally. Drag racing is not at all my hobby, but if someone is unjustifiably, tirelessly dissing me and my car, I'll do what it takes to prove them wrong.

I think I should stop all this ranting and raving and just go for a drive now.

Oh, and a stock Mach 1 getting that kind of time? You might want to check your sources.
