WRX vs. Roush?
Hey guys. My father in-law just bought a Mustang Roush stage 2. I have a MY04 WRX sedan. We're both stock.
How would we match up on the 1/4 mile?

Maybe mods : TBE, reflash. It would be a good race. I think you'd take him stock then

Mustang GT
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the Roush 1 and 2 simply a Mustang GT (performance-wise) with cosmetic and suspension upgrades? Because I think the GT only runs 15's in the 1/4 from what I have heard.

stage 2 has little work done like exhaust and something else i can't think of off the top my head, but the stage 1 i believe is Supercharged.
my friend had a GT with full exhaust, intake, and throttle body fastest he ran was 14.7.

It's the stage 3 that's supercharged by the way.

*chuckles* So even the scooby guys don't know yet..
Well lets break it down shall we? This is my dad afterall we are talking about and barrel_roll9 would be my brother in law
A roush is a mustang GT, stock a gt has roughly 260 hp. The roush my pop owns would have the upgraded rims (18's which are Einki's i believe) , body kit, interior works. Its also got cold air intake, exauhst and possibly a small tunning map to get it to the 289hp it has now.
The roush would be a fun challenge stock for stock. It apparently appears a lil faster on the 1/4 with acclaimed numbers around the low 14's like in this web page http://www.bluemaxxracing.com/2000_roush_mustang.htm
Its REALLY hard to find honest results on this car. Apparrently everyone like to claim a gt with rims and a supercharger is a roush stage 2. I looked at saleens web page and gathered their 300hp car will do the 1/4 in mid 13's so a roush with some 280 hp and near same rims ought to be nearly the same.
Interesting facts are the roush has really wide back tires which allows for a good drop rpm and possibly a smoking 0-60 for a RWD car. If it really comes down to it though its just going to be a contest of driver skill though it appears that the roush is a tad faster on this run..
I guess the only proof we will have is when this thing hits the track. When it does i'll be sure to post numbers for you guys for both the subaru and the roush 2. If the subaru beats this car stock for stock i think i'll just laugh all day long and possibly just challenge my dad to a 1/4 race myself. Since i have this tiny lil mazda protege and he's got the big roush he'll feel better after a few wins

Well... he, the owner, got it dyno'ed a few days ago and claims he got 358hp at the wheels.... ok wait i'll explain
First off he was running with a diablo chip and the dyno results where 358hp at 3800 rpm.... yes 3800rpm now do i believe this? no... but when i have the sheet of paper in my hands i'll really feel confident about it.
Also he plans to do a 1/4 mile run on Wednesday with some 130 octane race fuel. I'll post the times if and when he hands me a slip.
