But, concerned about ride quality and comfort (interier noise, harshness, etc). I do A LOT of driving, and road trips with my wife. Needs to be comfortable enough for her to snooze in the passenger seats on long drives. My 944 cabriolet was not... she was not eager to take long trips due to the rough ride and noise.
So, what are your thoughts on the EVO ride and comfort level relative to a WRX??

Re: Re: EVO vs WRX comfort and ride
Great, valuable feedback.
Call me a wimp, but even trips up to LA from San Diego are a stretch in my Lincoln WRX (admittedly lowered and w/17"), so I can't imagine what the Evo might be like. Ahh, the price of performance.
I will say that my partner and I drive up to LA quite a bit in his '02 Porsche C4. Except for the squeeks/rattles from the top, the car is very comfortable for long trips. But for $90K... hey!

I purchased an Evo a week ago and have to say it is very quick, not overwhelming but quick and the handling is nothing short of a race car/go kart. The drawbacks of being so athletic are noise and harshness. Drivetrain, brakes and tires are loud. The seats are stiff. It makes a WRX feel like a Lincoln town car no lie. Other than driving around for fun I don't take it anywhere. Driving it for over 45 min leaves my back and neck hurting. It is a track car no less no more. I would never take it on a long trip. I'm only 30 years old and I do trackdays in the supersport group on my Yamaha R6 and Ducati 998 so I'm no stranger to discomfort. Great car for what it is though.

Guess I might choose the wrx
Great feedback. THANKS. That was exactly what I was wondering. Sounds like the EVO might not be comfortable for the 700+ miles I drive every week!
Went today and sat in one (of course, can't test drive it) and interestingly, it is more ergonomically comfortable than the WRX for me. The steering wheel / pedals / seat / armrest / gear shift placement all "fit" me better than the WRX. But, those seats, though nice fitting, are hard, and I can imagine they would get a little uncomfortable with a super taught suspension and that tire / rim setup... I have visions of being exhausted after the first two hours of driving...and listening to my wife ***** about how uncomfortable the Evo is.... that would suck.
So, with your advice in mind, will give a lot more weight to the black '03 WRX wagon I have picked out... maybe go down Monday and buy that one. Thnks much for the input.

well after driving the evo for a few days, gotta love the 300 mile brake in, thanks mitsu. Well the car is actully quite comftorable i think, maybe me and that other guy have different feelings for the ride.. Well smoked a 2002 BMW M3 6spd the other day, went to the track, recorded 0-60 was 4.5 seconds. << due in part because i know how to drive stick, conditions where nice about 65 degrees. Well currently i have 957 miles on it and i love the car i woulndt trade it for nothing, i also love my scoobie, but after having an evo its kinda embarassing to drive the WRX once you get used to the speed... well cant wait for my sti to come in supossed to run 4.0 on 0-60, keep you guys informed..

Edmunds.com did a review in which they road tested the Evo 8 against the WRX in a "comparison test". It's a good article, and if I remember correctly they stated that the Evo was superior from a pure acceleration and performance standpoint, (as expected), but that for daily driving they preferred the WRX. A more comfortable ride overall.
