Took Delivery of 2003 Lancer Evo 8
Finally, i got my new EVO 8, the dealer only had 2. No other dealers in this area have any yet, i payed 31,705.98 with all options. Wow one sweet ride. I went out with my friend told him to drive my WRX, i drove my EVO, sorry to say my scoobie got smoked. Im also getting the STI when it comes out so ill have 2 rally cars, plus my US-spec WRX. Btw, the us-spec lancer that came out 1 year ago is ugly.. I will post pics soon.

I checked them out yesterday
The mitshu dealer just a couple miles from my house had 3 Evo's on the lot. They had little notes in the window next to the actual sticker that said they wanted ~$5K over MSRP, but the saleman quickly told me that that was negotiable. I really liked the car. Although I certianly didn't like it $10-13K more than my WRX.
Here's a few things I noticed:
-It's bigger than the WRX and a little roomier in the back seat.
-FMIC H2O sprayer is standard, maybe I'm behind the times but I didn't realize this
-EVO clutch is stiffer and feels more like a sports car (I didn't drive it, just sat in it and pressed the pedal). It's not too stiff, it's just not squishy and soft like the WRX's.
-EVO tranny is much smoother, the gearbox was very silky.(again it might not drive better than the WRX, but it certinaly felt better at a standstill)
-EVO's 17" wheels and meaty tires, thumbs up. (I can't wait untill I wear out my stock tires so I have an excuse to upgrade)
-Those Brembo brakes are freakin HUGE and impressive looking. I'd guess with the wheels, tires, and brakes these things would take a stock WRX to school on a road course.
-Lame little stock stereo, not a biggie, audiophiles will replace it anyway.
-Manual projector headlight focus adjustment from the cockpit
-Very firm and supportive recaro seats.
-fold down armrest in back seat with 2 cupholders. I wish my WRX had some cupholders in the back.
-Back seat does not fold down or even have a pass-through to the trunk on the EVO. This is a major no-go IMO. I bought the WRX wagon over the sedan simply because the seats fold down. Other than that I prefered the sedan.
Overall, I thought the car looked better in person than in the pictures I had seen. Although I think the 25-35 year old market these cars target for the most part will shy away from the freakin huge $750 carbon wing-a-ling-ding on the trunk.

You can easily add cupholders for the back seat passengers in your WRX. Here is how!

i had a chance to check the new evo saturday at the dealer. very nice looking car. those wheels are hot! and yeah, the brakes freaking huge!!! the rear rotors are bigger than my stock fronts!! and those nice big red 4pot brembos up front look awesome. then again, the STi has gold 4pots so guess its all good. anyway, i really liked the evo overall. i am kind of a mitsu fan, drive a dsm. i think the evo will have its strong points over the sti, but the sti still has more power and little more tech. can't wait to see it!!
the guys at the dealer wouldn't let me sit in the evo!! i was dissapointed. i wanted to check out the recaros. looks good on the inside anyway.

EVO vs WRX comfort and ride
Will be buying either an EVO or WRX wagon in next few weeks. Not happy about the no-fold-down seats in the Evo, but can live with that I guess... that's what I have the Forester for!.
But, concerned about ride quality and comfort (interier noise, harshness, etc). I do A LOT of driving, and road trips with my wife. Needs to be comfortable enough for her to snooze in the passenger seats on long drives. My 944 cabriolet was not... she was not eager to take long trips due to the rough ride and noise.
So, what are your thoughts on the EVO ride and comfort level relative to a WRX??
