Im selling my 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII GSR. Car color is Apex Silver, I have owned the car for about 9-10 months and am selling it due to my job relocation. I commute 36 miles one way 5 days a week. Ive done all the regular maintenance myself using OEM mitsubishi filters (and crush washers) and Mobile 1 fully synthetic oil ONLY. Car also has had a boost leak test and throttle shaft seals (common to go out on these cars) replaced by GST motorsports. After test, car was retuned by GST to make sure it was running great on a fresh tune. Car has had 2 oil changes under my ownership every 3,500-4,000 miles and tires replaced in Sept. of 2012. Car does hold a salvage title due to front passenger side collision from previous owners. Was told all parts replaced by OEM parts, and no frame damage. Car had just recently had the front passenger tie rod end go out which threw off the alignment. I have 2 OEM tie rod ends for it to have and replace with, just haven't had time to change since its my only ride to work. Minor displacement of front bumper is the only physical damage (from crash) on the exterior from previous owner that is hardly noticeable. May be forgetting some other things but this is all for now. - Skunk2 lowering springs (Brand new)

- Aftermarket stock-size catalytic converter ($150)
- 1 OEM Mitsu filter and washer

Car was protuned and made 277whp @6500rpm and 248wtq @4750rpm @ 23lbs by Tuner Mike on GST's Mustang dyno. BTW mustang dyno's read very low. With new injectors, fuel pump, Intercooler/Piping and maybe an O2 dump this car would really open up and retune of course. Just changed oil and fresh mitsu filter so no need to do anything until 60k maintenance is needed.

I do have paperwork on tune and the throttle shaft seals replaced by GST, but do not have the boost leak. Car has held boost perfect since owned and pulls very hard at WOT.

Looking to get $13,500 cash "or best offer". Few other 2003's with clean title and more miles sell for around $17-$19k, like i said its or best offer. Not in a rush to sell and i know the pictures aren't the best(and cars dirty) but i have a bunch of video clips showing everything on the car, as well as a cold start up and engine bay after a fresh wash.

Proof of smog certification is not required if the title to the vehicle is being transferred within a family.

If you do sell it without a smog certification and it doesn't pass, the seller is responsible for repairing it to the smog certification standards."

 

Might be able to with the new 2013 smog laws. No more dyno sniffer, just a visual and OBDII scan....

 

I do under stand that and have made it clear that i am selling it as buyers responsibility. I do have the current smog cert and it passed legally. I will not sell it unless buyer agrees to take care of it.

 

Are you the one that does smog stuff for a living? Can't remember.

Place next door to me still does...

Exhaust pipe sniffer at various RPM settings. Neutral as they don't have an AWD dyno.
OBD2 scan
Extensive visual check list that they have to check off on the computer.

 

Doesn't matter what you agree to. You will be legally liable for any and all repairs required to pass smog. Including the cost of smog test(s).

Thanks man yeah i bought it as is and was my responsibility to pass it and took it into my own hands to figure it out. Just letting the buyer know that it will pass and will pass legally just i don't want it to be my responsibility.

I do however understand legally its for me to smog it. Maybe a potential buyer and I can work something out. E85 is some pretty good stuff and is what's needed for it to pass. (Recommended by Mike @ GST)

Wierd, I had my car smogged a couple weeks ago and they did the tailpipe test.

 

Not trying to be a dick but.... this is a forsale thread not an online chat service.

I know plenty about smog ill be on my 7th car in a matter of 4 years so that is nothing new to me (:
