Just took delivery 06 2.5i Black Pearl
picked her up today in Toronto. She drives like a dream, just want to drive drive and drive some more. any tips on breaking her in besides varying speeds while driving and keepin her under 4k? one more question, when i turn the ignition (not starting her) i hear this weird noise like something turning on.. but it doesnt sound good, like it sounds like when you turn on xenon lights, that electrical buzz type of sound and some mechanical sound aswell, it lasts for like 2 secs then goes away. thx in advance, peace

Totally normal that noise. Like little "whine" almost right? Just your cars electronics coming alive. As for breaking it in, put it under load every now and then (going fairly steep hills) and don't lug the engine (Shifting too early and dropping RPMs while gassing it). It's okay to shift over 4k after 100-200 miles. I would actually bring it up around 5-6 every now and then, like once every hundred miles or so. Your piston rings need to snap into place and every RPM range sees different engine characteristics.

My dad has sworn on a tough break in on his cars and has never had a problem. I run mine easy until 500 change the oil and drive like normal. I then changed the oil again at 1500 miles. I've had no problems.

I'd hate to see the people that bought the two '06 STi's Petter drove this past summer at Car&Driver's 50th Anniv. He sure as ****e didn't break them in...though it's rumored he did BREAK one of them...

I loved the Prodrive springs I had on my '04 so I'm going with them again but this time I might pair them with a set of KYB adjustable struts.
Then it's on to swaybars and endlinks.
First "mods" will be:
Dunlop Wintersport M3's on stock rims.
Osram Rallye H7 for low-beam.
Toshiba HIR 9011 for high-beam.
CPI Universal Gold H3 for fogs (lights going on Monday).
Trico Innovision wiper blades.
Also looking for an '06 STI axleback. Everything else will wait until the spring.
