Here's a thought:
Now I know that the Skyline GT-R has always been aimed at Porsche, and it's getting some nice AWD technology, but this is still something to consider.....
Skyline GT-R
~500HP
~$70,000
Shelby GT 500
500hp
$42,975
Almost $30K more for for some AWD and an IRS and maybe some nit-picky details???? You can say what you want about Ford, but with the money left over, you have almost enough for a new STI.

So those Skylines - those all have stock turbo systems in place? See, while you posted some steering wheel pics and there definitely have been some LHD Skylines, the biggest advertised and publicly known reason for not bringing the RBXXDETT powered Skyline to the states has been as constellation mentioned, the twinturbo system gets in the way of the steering gear mostly due to the angle the engine is leaning in order to provide a lower hood line. I have read this in many many articles about the Skylines over the years. I've been a fan for a long time.
its completely screwed to drive
ive screwed up a few doors and bashed my hand reaching for the shifter haha
except when its teh HOV lane in so cal the cops see soem one is on the right side and they keep going, so im told.

it can be done
you are saying the exhaust gets in the way of the stearing shaft?

lol, its so american to judge any performance car simply by how much horsepower they are rated at.

you know Ford also made the GT which had 550hp and sold for $150K. So since we are only judging cars by HP, how can that be possible for only 50 more hp Ford was able to sell out every GT for 4 times the price of the Shelby? Hell they're even both RWD too. Maybes theres mor eto what goes into a cars price then how much power you can squeeze out of it, huh?

No, it's not going to be running down Porches on Hwy 9, but I wouldn't consider the Shelby cursed to an eternity on the drag strip either. It's pretty hard to speculate since neither the GT-R or the Shelby have had any formal public track time.
I would assume that the GT-R would edge out the Stang in most (or all) of your standard performance tests. But, if the prices stay true to the rumors, that little extra performance just cost another $30K.
A) Nimble and Scary Fast or B) Brutal and Stupid Fast???
If you chose A, that may cost you $30K more. As long as it's worth it to you, that's all that matters. If I had to make a choice of which one to buy, I would most definitly need to test drive both. And this is coming from some one who previously owned a modded Z32 TT and a modded 240SX.

According to what I have read, the stock twinturbo unit and housing gets in the way of the steering box. There are different turbo kits that can be installed that can work with a LHD steering box, but not the stock system. Either way it seems to me that they should have been able to engineer around it, but I guess not.

I had two Minis at one point. One RHD, one LHD. The only thing I would do was grab for the wrong side of the wheel to hit the turn signal indicator. Shifting with your other hand is easy. It takes *maybe* 3 hours to get totally used to RHD.

This is going to be one insane car.

I've already seen a G35 coupe in the streets with the GT-R badges on it lol
