not the first, the 2002 had a turbo in the 1970s (2002 is the model, confusing eh?), not sure if there were others.

yeah, looks like two identical manifolds to me. I'm guessing its standard bi-turbo setup, a sequential setup is a very tricky and more expensive to manufacture

there was a 745i from 1980 to 1986 as well

however the new 3 series is the first twin turbo setup

yea doing some more reading it seems as if they are the same size
