Yes a twin turbo inline 6 on a 3 series coming out in September I heard. More info here http://www.bmwusa.com/Vehicles/futur...les/new3coupe/

only 300?
Did I miss something? Only 300hp from a TT 6? Why are they holding back? I can only imagine the amount of power the aftermarket folks are going to get out of that...

This will open avenues for tuners to tap into the Dinan action that dominated for so long and all they really do is tune a detuned USDM car to it's real potential.
Now Toyota needs to follow and do a Corolla turbo rear drive and Nissan to bring Silvia reaR drives to the states.
Stop with the FWD cars already PLEASE !

BMW wants to slot this between the 250hp 330 sedan and the upcoming 400hp V8 M3, so im sure they turned the wick down quite a bit on purpose, but yeah knowing BMW it should be well over-engineered to handle a TON more boost, maybe its time i finally ate my words and bought a bimmer

some other factors to consider, the tt i6 produces 300 lb-ft of torque, the current m3 is 262 lb-ft. twin turbos with a decent size inline 6 should have a pretty flat torque curve, so driveability would be awesome. and the new car will probably be a few grand less than the current m3.

The problem with AWD BMW's s that all their silly electronic driving aids, X-drive, ESP, DSC, etc. render them all but useless when it comes to flat out hard driving on gravel or ice- even Audi's recent S cars won't let you left foot brake because their stability control program won't keep the throttle open when it detects brakes being applied.
Not to mention that parts from both those companies are ridiculously expensive.
I'll stick with Rally bred and proven drivetrains thank you.
