For less than that 26G difference you can have a twin turbo Vette (my previous post). If you wanted a Ling superchaged Vette it is under 10G. You still save 16G and have a faster car. Then add exhaust componets, etc. and you will be pulling much better performance than the AMG for the same price. In a "fastest car comparison" the Z06 is faster than the E55 in the big picture. In a straight line they are almost identical in time. In turns, braking, and driver input the Z06 is a faster car. The E55 is a great car, but not the fastest.
BTW trap speeds dont mean sh*t, the time is all that matters. You should know that owning an AWD car. I ran a 13.2@101 in the STi, against a WRX (modified) 13.3@103.

Don't even say the Z06 is poor quality because it is American. The engine maybe pushrod but it still rips and its bulletproof. Before you start talking about quality maybe people should stop and think about the junk transmissions that are in our WRXs. Another thing to consider is that the Viper and E55 may be faster on the drag strip but take them out to most any road course and the Vette will run away from them because it can handle.
Also like someone else mentioned the new C6 vette is 500 horse and wait a year for the new Z06 to appear. It will dominate almost everything on the market when it comes out.

the last post on the first page said the evo was easier to mod...well not really...SCC did mods to a few cars to see what gains it would get...exhaust, i/c, intake..the STI responded to each with hp and tq gains (each as in not all at same time but one then test then another then test)..the EVO 8 actually lost hp and tq when an upgraded fmic was installed and tested.

Fastest car under $100,000 bang-for-buck is DEFINITELY not the Viper mang-o.
Noble M12 is like 3.8-3.6 or something outlandish like that, and it's like $70k turnkey. Lotus Elise is like 4.6 or something like that, but it's also only $40k. For the extra $60k you could make it unbelievable quick.
Super-Modified 'Vettes are completely ridiculous though. Companies like Ligenfelter or West have turned out some incredible cars, I think West had a Twin Turbo one good for 1200hp or so. Fastest streetable car in the world is still the Ligenfelter Sledgehammer Corvette, like 275mph or something absolutely nuts like that.

The fastest STOCK car out right now for under $100,000 is the Viper, with the Z06 nipping at its heels. The C6 Z06 will proably be faster than the Viper. The Lingenfelter Vette that had a 0-60 in under 2 seconds didnt make it in the sub $100,000 catagory, but it is still one of my favorite cars.

Elise has got to be the fastest car for its money. that thing does the quarter in 13 flat. and thats with a stock friggin celica gt-s engine pushing out 190 hp. Imagine what this thing can do with a little bit money. The elise will most likely be the ultimate tuning car. I was reading an article in Car and Driver earlier and the Elise pulled 1.06g's in the skidpad test. that is ****ing awesome for a stock car IMO.

Sorry for being off topic here, but if you had a celica gts and added $25k in mods wouldnt you have a better performing car than the elise?
