Yeah, if you have a blow through carb then it is totally possible. I have seen numerous engines older big blocks with turbo. Although the most impressive one is sitting in my parents garage waiting for me to get out of school. My dad and I built a 360 twin turbo. It was dynoed at the crank for 650 and that was pretty mildly tuned. The nice thing about turbo carbed engines is that they get good gas mileage. I have yet to test mine in the car(as I said school and such) but I saw a 440 twin turbo that was getting 18+ mpg on the freeway. I must say that 18+ on the freeway out of a 440 is quite impressive. But yeah it is possible, it just takes a lot of fabrication depending on the car. There are numerous kits out for older mustangs, unfortunately nothing out for mopars yet.

A carb is what the had before fuel injection. It puts all the gas into the intake charge at once instead of putting gas into each individual cylinder(like fuel injection). It is not as efficient as EFI because you can't lean/enrich as well as with a computer controlled fuel system. That is why they moved away from them.

Cool post!
Draw through applications were used a ton by manufacturers. The old dodge turbos had em and the old Turbo trans ams had em mated to an anemic 301 engine. The TA made good power but blew up quick. The big drawback to drawthroughs were that the fuel mixed with the air had to pass through them causing early bearing failure and the turbo lag was pretty substantial.
If you use a blowthrough system you need a carb hat that allows you to run a hose to the carb from the compressor. You also need to get solid floats because the brass ones crush under boost. It gets a bit more detailed than this but I'm pretty sure no one here would care.
A guy named Dick Datson has been building them for over 30 years. He had a 700hp packard 289 that ran 11's and did it for under $250 in the 70's
I am following that idea with my McLaren Coupe. Putting 2 Grand national turbos on a 393 windsor. Should make 900HP with around 25psi. Hmm wonder if it'll pass inspection?
