Why should I buy an STi over an EVO?
Ok, so I've ran into some complications with my 03 and I've decided to an upgrade. SO, with that said, as I was car shopping today, I kind of ran across a 05 Lancer Evo VIII, and I have to admit, I like it A LOT. And yes, I do know how much people hate Evos on this forum and how its bad to go to "the dark side". But the Evo is quickly starting to grow on me. But at the same time I'm looking at the 07 STi and I like it too. After reading a few online reviews about each and checking out the technical specs on each, there seems to be no conclusive agreement on which is better. So I kind of wanted to get people's UNBIASED opinion on why I should get an STi Over the Evo. Both are white, and at about 30K miles.
Just to start, I already think that the Evo's interior is a lot better and the shifting is a lot smoother. BUT, I do like the Subaru's sound a lot better and I think the Pearl white is way more bad *** than just plain white.

I heard that flat rate to change a clutch is twice as expensive in the Evo as it is in a Subie...
I can't think of a lot of other reasons, the Evo is a pretty awesome car.

I really don't have a whole lot of personal experience with the two models, however, the '07 in white is the only color I'd ever look at.
Trying to be as unbias as possible:
Evo Pros:
Handles like a beast
Has the rock solid 5 speed in it (I believe this is the good tranny Mitsu made?)
Faster than the STi stock to stock
More power potential from basic bolt ons.
I think it has much tighter seats?
STi Pros:
The Suby community!
Has the rock solid 6 Speed
From what I hear, has the better interior feeling, like ***** and stuff
Better overall daily driver
Suby awesomeness crash rating
I think it really depends on what you want more. Evos tend to be more towards the track, so slightly harsher ride, cheaper feeling interior, while the STi tends to be more driver friendly with a softer ride. However, the difference between the two won't be distinguished enough, so either or are great cars. Good luck with the purchase, and post pics when you decide!

As for the Subaru, the Subaru community is definitely a plus and definitely contributes to my wanting to stay within the community. And many reviews have indicated the STi is much more forgiving than the EVO in terms of comfort. I have yet to test drive the STI, but I don't assume that it's too much of a difference than from the regular WRX.
Actually, I see STi's (and WRX) ALL THE TIME and I hardly see Evo's. Which is why I wanted to get an Evo cause not a lot of people have it. But yeah, I do think the resale value sucks on an Evo.

I have to admit the Evo's stick was much much more solid and responsive compared to my 03 WRX, I guess that was contributed to it being a short shifter.

I dont know what the market is like over there, but I would only take an 05 STI over any other EVO, and that would only be from a totally personal/irrational standpoint, I have driven both quote extensively and yes the EVO has the edge im most objective comparisons, so if you like the EVO and are happy with its looks/feel/driving experience then go with that. But as I said, I dont know the market for either car there in China or the roads/driving experience you would have with either, the Suby is definitely the more engaging/interesting car to drive around. I have definitely had better performing cars in alot of areas, but my STI has always been the most engaging personality wise, and seriously, you arent going to get 10/10ths out of either of these unless you track them so it comes down to what car satisfies you the most everyday.
so it comes down to your personality really, but I think you know the answer your going to get around here

and EVO's break down way too much... always in the shop, the electronic AWD is not fun for me.. i would rather have the all the time AWD then the sometimes one wheel drive, two wheel drive, three whell drive, and maybe everyonce in a while AWD...

Where have you heard that Evo's break down? Have you driven the Evo to say that u don't like the electronic AWD? To be perfectly honest, I think that goes with all cars.

oh ****, I thought you were that 'china boi' guy that posts from Beijing, damn I shouldnt post when Im durnk
yah they both have a couple of mechanical nigles, but the EVO has proven to be the more robust engine once you push for power, the STI drivetrain is bulletproof though, so its a mixed bag.
