W/o hearing it myself, I'm not 100% confident, but it's probably a "normal" noise.

Yep, all three of my Subarus have made their own special noises.

My wife's '08 Legacy makes the noise as well as my parent's '09 Forester. Far as I can tell, it's a normal noise. Funny my '02 WRX doesn't make the noise.

And the word you were looking for is Specific, not Pacific.

If I let my car sit a couple days, or even one night after a wash the brake rotors will be covered in surface rust. The next morning, when I pull out of the driveway I usually hear a clunk from the pads breaking free from the rusty rotors.

The tolerance between the pad & the caliper seems a little sloppy.

It's really only noticeable at parking speeds; backing out of a spot..clunk...going forward..clunk.

Anyone claiming to be an expert about cars is a liar.

Thanks for clearing that up - knowledge is power!

Very true. Anyone claiming to be an expert about anything is a liar, but it's okay for someone else to call one that and not degrade credibility. Comparatively since I have never touched an STi brake caliper, you are the expert here. Of course I understand how silly that sounds, but I just meant that for example - you would be a much better source of information about STi brakes than myself based on personal experience. I'm no expert, but I think this post is pointless.
