i'll qualify my response by saying i only searched and don't know from experience, but i thought I'd try to help anyways since most are feeling like being an asshat...
i searched on this issue using "clunk reverse front" and it was mentioned in many threads that the brake pad moving when going forward and reverse made a "clunk" noise

STi's like to make all sorts of clunks, groans, squeaks, etc.
Most likely it's the brake pads shifting around in the calipers.
