The Mini S's with the 6speed really are a blast to drive. I had the pleasure of abusing one around Ft Ord military base one time, it rocked!

Aboothman does make a good point though.

Her mechanic has told her that it's not worth diagnosing. He can't tell why it's burning oil without pulling the engine apart. It's burning a quart every couple of gas tanks. She trusts her mechanic quite a bit since her family has been going there for a long time, but I suppose she couldn't hurt to get a second opinion.

Ultimately the decision is hers and it's her money to spend. I'm already driving the car I really wanted. It took me a while to decide on this one! I plan on keeping it a long time... at least another year.

"Going there for a long time" makes me question the age and knowledge of the mechanic. A second opinion from a good import specialty shop wouldn't hurt.

True, true. Can anyone recommend a good Honda mechanic in or near SF?
