Rotaries are very finicky. The N/A rotaries like the 13B-DEI are reliable, I see them all the time. The turboed 13B models..... questionable.

However, some stronger apex seals and restraint from synthetic oil goes a long way. But a stock Turbo II or 3rd gen with high mileage, I wouldn't push very hard.

Oh most definitely. NA rotaries seem to be pretty reliable. However, many turbo rotary problems occur due to the owner. For example, the owner will start doing performance modifications without upgrading the fuel system (fc owners are cheap), and that's where problems start to arise.

Miatas are awesome drifters. It takes skill too (answer to why a lot of people dont drift miatas, cuz 1/2 of them are wannabe city kids driving to the mtns with no skill) cuz you got to rely on G's more than your power to drift. you cant just mash the gas and get sideways (unless your already pulling G's in a turn)

Stick with cheap/hard tires, once i put my Hankook RS2s on my miata, the fun was over! felt like drifting in pudding, but faster of course.

If you ever saw a red miata drifting the whole marina autoX a few times, months ago it was me!

By the way, how do you like your RS2s? I bought a set recently and I have them mounted on my spare set of wheels, but haven't gotten the pleasure of using them/scrubbing them in yet.

well i only got to put on about 700 miles. They are the most highperformance tire ive ever had (meaning im not an expert and my opinion has nothing else to be compared with)

nicer steering, can really feel it stick lol just like any other tire i guess. when i drift around hairpins and stuff like that its more of a slower process, not like....ok going straight...ready to turn...break loose all of a sudden...high angle drift...snap back to exit

its more like going into the turn...still turning... back end kkinda breaking loose but hooking up. ease back out of drift. kinda like slow motion. Ive never pulled off a high angle drift with them yet, and you probly cant since the high grip sucks up all my miatas power.

I agree. The RS-2 are not for drift. Just way too sticky. Even on a lightweight (and way underpowered) AE86 it's hard to make them break loose after they are broken in. I am looking forward to auto-x though. It should give me another second off the time vs. the Kuhmos I had on before.
