What happened around here?
I wonder where my car ever ended up. It was awfully special to me (a friend of mine bought it brand new in '01). It came from the east coast but was one of the first Vishnu stage whatever cars down to the TMIC and exhaust system (even the battery hold down haaa). Everything under the hood was blue and/or shiny - I asked my mechanic friend if he thought I could ever get it passed and he was like "f you get out" so the work began... It ended up pretty sweet.

Ha - never noticed it on those. Cheesy! The Legacy ones seem to start to sag around 10 years of age as well - yet another reason to get rid of it. So silly.
Has anyone talked to a tuner or smog person they know? I guess I'm pretty much ****ed? This is really disheartening. So should I just sell my car to someone out of state? This is awful. Bigger turbo, ewg, blah blah. Don't even have most of the stock parts anymore.
What is he going to do just just track day the car? I have kinduv a bad situation going on in that worst case I'm going to have to sell it. Its got under 20k lol. Do you think I should try and return it to stock and offload it on bringatrailer or something? I will never build a car to my taste like this one, I spent all my money and time perfecting it to my liking years ago but due to money and health issues it has just sat under a cover mostly. This is such bologna. The only benefit of all this is not being able to afford a newer car makes me feel less bad due to the fact I couldn't do what I wanted to do it. Granted I guess you get 6-7 years until a smog? What a total racket. Also incredibly depressing the art of tuning and mods is going to die from this. Too bad I never managed to get my Pantera over the last 20 years, I came close but now I might as well be hoping for a 250 gto.

Tuners are still tuning, just not in Ca. 6 yrs until you need to smog a new car, but most manufacturers are going electric anyway.
I had hoped to either keep my car forever or sell it due to financial difficulties (currently happening), it seems neither are a good option now. Maybe best just to get insurance to value it high and drive off a cliff? **** me this really sucks. I guess I could try to register in a no smog county? I wonder if it's possible to sell out of state only and recoup any money from it. This is stressful, I knew I should have sold it a few months ago did you see that 2007 on bat get to 37 bid? I guess there is no real answer that is going to satisfy me now. What I should do is sack up and move up out of this pile of **** state and leave all my friends behind and good food and the bay area. Meanwhile crime is rampant, what a disgusting joke for them to invest our tax money in this.

Even if you reg it in a non smog county in CA, you still need to do an initial smog to move it there.. but once it is there, it would not have to be done again.

Yeah, getting dumb around here. At least Cobb has a big location here so they still support CA, but restrictions are getting too tight. I plan to trade my sedan for a 2.4L STI when it comes out and basically leave it alone

Cobb is a TX company I believe. They seem to be working with CARB in order to keep selling some things here, since CA is probably a lot of revenue for them thanks to all the Subies. CARB isn't just causing issues for companies here, they've logged some big fines against companies from other states for selling parts that don't meet emissions here, similar to how firearms are handled: Not legal here, can't sell it here

It's been forever since I've been on here lol. Glad to see this place is still around, even if it is on life support. Subie-less as I am, I'm still sticking it to CARB, running around my catless from the factory 99 F350 diesel, with a LEGAL 4" mbrp turbo back exhaust. CARB can eat $hit.
