Why not get a wedding planner? They save you a lot of money because they get discounts for most of the things for the wedding, so in the end you pay pretty much the same price as if you were to do it yourself but instead you get a professional to do it for you and they do it really nicely since that is their job. They charge a couple grand for their services, but like I said, since they get such discounts they apply that to the overall price of the wedding which makes it the same price as if you were to plan everything on your own.

I'm with you though, I just want to show up... Planning that thing is her job, not mine! She gets off on planning it though, like she gets turned on when she's talking about the planning of it... It's so weird, lol... All she talks about as of late is the wedding and shower, etc. We're in the mid $40k range for ours, and thank GOD I'm not paying for it, cuz I could buy 45 guns for that price!

Indeed, you are correct... My fiancee always tells me how she's been looking forward to the wedding day since she was a little girl. Sometimes I tease her and tell her the only reason she's marrying me is so that she can have a wedding, lol. She doesn't like when I say that though and always gets mad at me (but then I make funny faces and tease her until she starts laughing, so she can never stay mad at me! )

But yeah, this is probably the biggest day of her life, so we all want it to be extra special for her. Our big day is April 5th which is coming up REALLY fast, and the sooner it gets the more nervous I get! Actually, just talking about it right now is giving me butterflies in my stomach!

We got away with $5K for everything & we paid cash. That included the open bar as well. We got married in the sand at Pismo Beach & then had a 3 course lunch for everyone. We kept it at 50 people, mostly friends.

Since we lived together for 2 years before we got married nothing has changed except my last name. Being married is a lot easier then getting married.

I thought about hiring a wedding planner...but because im usually the one planning events and parties for everyone i know im more than capable of it. Its a lot harder planning your own event than someone elses!!!

our location is great too because the lady that owns the place is also a certified wedding planner so shes going to be helping me when i need it. Plus most wedding planners are fixed on using certain vendors which to me was completely lame. Im more about making it my own on my budget than having to explain what i want to someone who doesnt know me.

Did you guys hire one??

hahaha one thing i havent thought about is all the parties like wedding/engagement showers, bridal shower, bachelor/ette parties.... i guess i should make my bridesmaids take care of those? hahaha id rather have my guy friends be groomsmen for me.....but i know how that would turn out hahaha. Luckily my mom has gotten into it. So her and my maid of honor are pushing me.....without them i probably wouldnt have anything done yet. Im just trying not to get sucked into all the normal hoopla that weddings are about...im not that "girlie girl" and afraid i can get suckered into something that ill regret later cause im surrounded by women.

id rather spend the money from the wedding on cars or home..........*sigh* Bruce whose paying for yours if yer not? Im capping the list at 200....anything more and im putting my foot down...i cant imagine 400 people...thats like my cousins wedding....there were too many people everyone was tired and the bride and groom were beat half way thru the reception.
