Warriors thread
Some more news regarding Lee and the Warriors:
Marcus Thompson of the Contra Costa Times reports that the Warriors are offering Anthony Randolph and other players (unknown for now) for David Lee. Probably better if you guys just read the article than me explaining it. But the gist of the article is that Monta Ellis won't be included in the package. Also, in order for the trade to happen, everything depends on whether Lebron decides to sign with NY or not.
Honestly I don't know what to think of this trade, if it happens. Don't know who the other Warrior players will be packaged and we'd be adding another LONG term contract that's probably going to be in the same pay range as Ellis and Biedrins. I thought the whole point was to reduce cap space, not add to it.
Anyways, to the article:

Would you like the Warriors acquiring David Lee if they could also keep guard Monta Ellis?
That is a distinct possibility depending on LeBron James’ decision tomorrow. Multiple sources told me the Warriors have an offer on the table that sends forward Anthony Randolph and other pieces to New York in a sign-and-trade deal for Lee.
If LeBron announces he is going to New York, in order to make room for his max contract, the Knicks would have to renounce Lee to free up the cap space. That would end the sign-and-trade possibility and the Warriors’ chances at Lee. But if LeBron doesn’t say the Knicks when he announces his decision …
… Then the Warriors are “in the game” for Lee. One source said the Knicks have at least three sign-and-trade offers on the table in case LeBron opts to play elsewhere. But the Warriors like their chances, considering Randolph is a hot commodity. The Knicks really like Randolph and weren’t so high on Ellis. Certainly, the contracts have something to do with it.
I have not confirmed who the other players are, but the obvious candidates are center Ronny Turiaf, swingman Kelenna Azubuike and forward Brandon Wright. It’s possible an expiring contract is in there (Vladimir Radmanovic). But, from what I’m told, the Warriors advantage is that they can offer players, which the Knicks’ need.
Of course, Golden State would have to work out a deal with Lee for a sign-and-trade to happen, even if the Knicks like the Warriors’ offer better. One source said the Warriors will not offer a maximum contract, but the Warriors could go as high as $13 million in the first year of a six-year contract (that would be $78 million excluding raises). With Chicago signing Carlos Boozer, that is one less team the Warriors have to worry about. However, New Jersey can still outbid the Warriors. Plus, Lee could, in the end, prefer to land elsewhere.
Warriors’ management, I’m told, is excited at the prospect of adding Lee to Ellis, Stephen Curry and center Andris Biedrins. That would give them four positions set and address their rebounding disparity.
Definitely risks involved. If the Warriors gave Lee $10 million a year, no raises, that is $60 million committed. To do that and give up Randolph, whew, that is a lot. But, Lee is a 20-10 guy who has proven himself. He is more of a win-now guy than Randolph. I think Randolph has star potential, but I understand if the team wants to cash in potential for certainty. Still, if Lee isn’t a 20-and-10 guy … I’ll just say it’s risky. But I definitely like Lee with Monta than Lee inexchange for Monta. The effectiveness of Lee will depend a lot on Biedrins. If he gets back to what he was, and he would have help on the boards, that would go a long way to helping this potential Lee deal pay off.
Oddly enough, one source was convinced the Warriors can pull off this big a deal without onwer Chris Cohan pulling the plug. With the sale pending, it would seem adding such a big contract is off limits. But I was assured it was not, and if everything falls in place the Warriors will do this deal. The belief is that getting Lee does not hurt the value of the franchise.
Why not?
* Because they aren’t giving away one of their big draws (Curry, Ellis), though one could argue Randolph is a big deal to Ws fans
* Because they are getting an All-Star. I’m told president Robert Rowell and even Cohan are excited about adding Lee
* Because all they really did was replace Maggette (and whoever they threw in) with Lee, so it is pretty much revenue neutral for this season

lol the season hasn't even started yet and the Warriors are down 1 player. Ekpe Udoh injures his wrist during Warriors practice. Severity of the injury is not yet known, but Udoh won't be playing in the upcoming Summer League games.

Udoh got hurt on July 4th practicing with Steph Curry. Can't ever say that guy doesn't work hard. However, man, talk about bad luck for the Warriors on a guy who's got a reputation of being durable in his college career. Also, the Anthony Randolph plus change for David Lee (and the ability to pay for whatever the hell he's asking for!) is probably going to be the largest "F*ck all you Warriors fans! I'm GONE!" by Chris Cohan and that front office. Out of all the teams I've been a fan of, this one actually is pretty insulting considering the timing and all. Way to spit on everyone's faces, Cohan & Co. I hope he gets hit by a bus.
Oh, BTW, David Lee's "all-star" nodded numbers were inflated by Mike D'Atoni's system and the fact that the Knicks sucked *** last season.

I always felt like Lee played like Troy Murphy. The only reason he was an all star was because he played for the knicks. Not sure if he can produce another all star appearance.
On a more brighter note...

Other than that, they'd be a force to be reckon with if all 3 played healthy...
Speaking of Lebron, tonight's the big night he'll announce his decision on which team he plays for. Will be a 1 hour special on ESPN at 6pm. Can't believe he gets an hour special just to announce lol
I think he's going to stay in Cleveland or head to Chicago.
Edit: There's strong consensus that he's leaning towards Miami. They all agreed to "sacrifice" *roll eyes* $1 million in salary if the trio were to sign with Miami. So that'll leave Miami with like $3.5 million to sign minimum wage players. Also, Florida doesn't have tax on state income, so basically their salary would be the same as a max contract playing somewhere else, taxwise.

The projected trade, according to Marcus Thompson of the CCT, says it'll be Lee for Randolph, Turiaf, and Azabuike.
Not worth the trade, IMO. We'd be giving up defense and morale booster in Turiaf, and Azabuike, who was quite versatile when he was healthy.

My advice to the warriors this season: keep the team the way they are rightnow. Reason 09-10 season blew is the injuries. Granted the d-leaguers picked up say 70% of the regular dudes, they can't win games like that again this season...
randolph for lee is not a good trade. Being a long time warrior fan, the only trade that made sense (ever!) and brought any excitement, was when we brought bdiddy from the hornets. The excitement on this potential trade brings zero excitement and he's not worth the max deal. Why couldn't we get boozer instead if we're acquiring someone w/ a max contract. Warriors management are doing it all wrong..and their moves always seem to be out of desperation and not carefully planned for the future.
Well u guys should know by now that Cohan has screwed us fans over and will screw us over again. This is his way of screwing us over one last time just for sheets and giggles. Besides, new long term contracts don't mean squat to him if he's on his way out. Hopefully Lebron goes to NY, David Lee says "hell no" to the Warriors, or David Stern intervenes and stop the trade from happening. Those are our only options.

i wouldn't mind David Lee coming to Warriors. it makes sense really...Turiaf is in his last year of his contract and Randolph was the only one of the three skinny tall PF we had that really has trade value. i really don't want to see Kelena leave, but he's coming off a surgery. Why wouldn't you take a big man that can score and can rebound the ball. His defense isn't there, but the Warriors aren't a defensive minded team.
