Nobody knows 100% who the new owner is. Although Matt Steinmatz says he's 99% certain Ellison is the new owner. Though his sources can't 100% confirm.

Most likely the new owner *cough* Ellison *cough* will be announced tomorrow.

Marcus Thompson reports that Mark Mastrov wasn't really in the running. Ellison's strongest competitor was not Mastrov, but a guy named Joe Lacob, Celtics co-owner and partner at a venture capitalist firm in Menlo Park.

From MT2:

Lacob is part-owner of the Celtics and is a partner at the venture capitalist firm KPCB, which is based in Menlo Park. I remembered the name from when Matt Steinmetz reported back in June. But I never was able to confirm his involvement from people I trust, just Peter Guber. Didn’t matter anyway, right? This thing was destined for the top two seeds to meet in the finals: No. 1 Ellison vs. No. 2 Mastrov. Wrong. Of course, Tuesday is the day I confirmed he was in the mix. And boy is he in the mix.

It’s not that Lacob can outbid Ellison. It’s that Ellison “won’t overpay” as one person told me. Because of that Lacob is in the game.

Hopefully the new owner is nobody else other than Ellison.

New report:

Ellison has offered around the $400 million range, and we were supposed to hear a new owner since yesterday. Apparently, Chris Cohan is holding off on the sale because he wants MORE money. Like upwards of $450+ million and not a penny less. What a douchebag. Cohan is one greedy loser.

Joe Lacob, minority owner of the Celtics, and his partner Peter Guber of Mandalay Entertainment bought the Warriors for $450 million. Guess that greedy Cohan got his wish after all. That bastard.

Larry Ellison refused to pay more than what he thought the franchise was worth, which was around $400 million.

Lacob and Guber overpaid for sure. Oh well, very disappointed Cohan got his way and Ellison isn't the new owner. But I guess the bright side is that f****** a**h*** Cohan is gone for good.

Kinda awkward though. Lacob and Guber paid $450 million, which is 100% ownership. So basically in the end, Cohan got less than if he were to award Ellison as the winning bidder. 80% of $450 is $360 million.

^ No kidding. It was like being punched in the stomach when you're not ready for it. Chris Cohan can go F himself.

Yeah it's a little disappointing to not have Ellison as the owner cause I thought he would just throw money at this team until we were a championship contender. Despite that though, that Lacob guy was part of the Boston Celtics ownership group and he might actually care about fielding a good team unlike that Cohan retard. I think it's still something to be happy about. I would like to see the new owners get rid of the GM and the coach and start fresh.

And rumors are they want to move the team to Las Vegas? There was news that a Vegas owner group (Mandalay?) wants a team down there.

Anyways, I blame all the Warriors fan for being such die hards to them even though they suck. We are rewarding failure with their support of such a bad team. I guess that's why they didn't fire any of the front office guys or the coach because people kept showing up and making them money.
