I hope the NBA board rejects this deal
In another surprising twist Thursday, would-be Warriors owner Larry Ellison asserted that his was the highest bid for the team, but that Golden State owner Chris Cohan went with another buyer for unknown reasons.
"Although I was the highest bidder, Chris Cohan decided to sell to someone else," Ellison said in a statement released by a spokeswoman at his company, Oracle. "In my experience, this is a bit unusual."
The Oracle spokeswoman said she had no information about how much Ellison bid or what happened during the negotiations.
Ellison's statement added, "I wish the Warriors and their fans nothing but success under their new ownership."
Joseph Lacob, currently part owner of the Boston Celtics, is the leader of a group that submitted the winning bid of $450 million. His group includes Peter Guber of Mandalay Entertainment.
The sales price is a record $450 million, which easily broke the record price paid for an NBA franchise, which is the $401 million Robert Sarver needed to acquire the Phoenix Suns.

^^ I agree! Cohan is just a bitter old man. I'm pretty bummed, but as long as Cohan's out...The Warriors organization can only go up from here. At least Lacob is a bay area based guy, pretty sure he feels the pain we Warriors fan's have been going thur

Mandalay Entertainment != MGM Resorts (you know, the guys who own Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas). Similar names, totally different entities. Jesus, read some stuff before jumping to conclusions, man. Pssh, like anything in Vegas is in a position to open up a whole new can of worms after CityCenter turned out to be a bit of a financial failure.

CJ Watson is going to be a Warrior no more. MT2 reports that the Warriors will sign and trade him to the Bulls for possibly a future 2nd round pick or a trade exception. It will be a 2 year $7 million deal.
He also hinted in twitter that a Warriors fan emailed Lacob asking to get Jeremy Lin, and Lacob actually replied back. No word on if Lacob will acquire Lin, but it's something to think about.

ridiculous, why let morrow go for nothing and then dump watson? It would seem you'd keep 1 or the other for your rotation. I always thought morrow made more sense with Curry or Monta playing the 1/initiator, but why have neither. Not like the warriors are deep (Williams can play the 2/3, Charlie bell can play defense). Where does that leave the warriors with a guard injury? There isn't much left on the FA front. And a 2nd rounder??? The warriors just traded their 2nd rounder.... for money. I have tons and tons of faith in Williams and want him to get as many minutes as possible, but what's wrong with signing Watson and having him ride the pine if needed. This smacks of finances, not making the team better. Not a great start for the new ownership as fans worry if they have the finances to commit to improvement (partnerships with the giants vs. the cash flow ellison would have had).
I wish! Haha
Here's a somewhat better update on Lee.
He injured his right middle finger.

LAS VEGAS -- David Lee injured his right middle finger Tuesday during his first practice with Team USA, an injury significant enough that he planned to immediately fly back to Oakland to be examined by the Golden State Warriors' medical staff.
Lee said the injury occurred when he went up to block a shot and jammed his finger against the bottom of the backboard.
"I looked down and my finger was completely turned to the side," Lee said. "It's possibly a tendon or a dislocation of some sort. It's something I've got to go have looked at either way.
"Hopefully it's something I can splint up and play with. That's up to the doctors to decide," Lee said.
Lee's injury came one day after Team USA learned it would be without forward Amare Stoudemire for the world championships after the New York Knicks said they were unable to procure an insurance policy to cover Stoudemire's surgically-repaired knee. Also, Phoenix center Robin Lopez informed team USA earlier Tuesday that he would not be attending minicamp as he continues to rehabilitate a back injury that kept him out of the first two rounds of the NBA playoffs.
The losses of Stoudemire, Lee and Lopez left the U.S. team with just 19 healthy players heading into their second day of practice Wednesday.
Lee said he planned to return to Las Vegas late Wednesday, even if the Warriors tell him to sit out the rest of minicamp. After a scrimmage Saturday night, Team USA will resume training camp in New York on Aug. 10.

Warriors are closing in on a 2-year deal with Jeremy Lin. Warriors now have a back up PG and SG apparently. Well, hello packed Oracle Arena! On the bright side, David Lee can score with both hands, no problem. He broke his left hand in high school and was forced to learn how to play with his right. He's naturally left handed, so at least he can still shoot the ball. It's just finishing around the basket with his right would be a little rusty to start the season.
