When I saw Silva rubbing the vaseline off his face and onto his body, I was like WTF? lol

Yah it looked like he hit him in the head, but after looking at the replay, he hit him in the chest.

The patella is practically in Sonnen's armpit. 
The patella is the main point of contact on a knee attack; the thigh making contact does no damage, and is the way you knee spar to prevent ****ing up your sparring partner. So even if the thigh slapped Sonnen's head, the damage is a pittance compared to the patella being driven into his chest.
As for the media clip, no clue why they didn't include the coup de grace other than to maybe deny freeloaders from catching the HL reel finish.
If you want to give Silva **** for anything, I'd say you should be griping about him grasping Sonnen's trunks. That was obviously illegal and obviously done.

The UFC pampers him. He's a pretty amazing fighter but he's probably my least favorite long term champ in UFC history.
The UFC allows certain people to get away with murder.
