Do you already have the EWG? On a stock turbo? Are you plumbing back to the exhaust or venting atmospherically?
Fuel Pump? Injectors? Accessport or Tactix/UEGO?
How much are looking to spend on the turbo? On everything else?

If you don't want to grenade the tranny, I would try to find a VF34/39/48 since they're cheap and sorta easy to find. On 91 with a 2.5, I think you'll be right around 300hp/300ftlbs, 320/350 on E85. Would probably spool like a tuned td04 on a 2.0 with the ewg.

I would highly recommend the Element Tuning GT52. I love mine, but am currently looking to sell it as I am going to move up to something bigger. It's basically a mash up of a 20g and a 30r. 7cm hotside, so it spools really pretty quick. Would benefit from an EWG setup but its not necessary.

Full boost around 3700rpm
422whp/457tq on E85 on Ed's old dyno calibration

If you are interested in it, asking $1000 for it. Mert just inspected it on Friday and its in fantastic shape, no shaft play or anything wrong. About 14,000 miles on it, mostly commuting to work. Turbo comes with their stainless braided oil line and the upgrade 19psi wastegate actuator.

you probably have the dyno sheet from that. you mind posting it? your mods were probably different (im guessing fmic as well?) but I want to get a better idea of the powerband. I thought the GT5Xs were basically a top end freeway turbo that didnt hit full spool till 5k

GT35r and GT40r would be the big "freeway" turbos. The GT52 is Element Tunings own naming convention and doesn't seem to follow the other GT series numbering.

I am running a FMIC but you would probably see faster spool running a decent TMIC with this turbo.

From their website:
"This turbocharger is very similar to many other 7cm TD06 20G framed bolt-ons but that's where the comparison ends. In this particular turbocharger we use a Garret GT30R 52 lbs compressor wheel, Garrett turbine wheel and shaft. The compressor is a GT30R rated at 52 lbs utilizing an internal wastegate. Typically we see 20 psi by 3600-3800 rpm tuning with the Hydra with pump gas power in the 375-400 whp range. Both housings are completely ported for increased flow and wastegate performance. Race gas power is in the 475-500whp range. Expect to achieve full boost with the proper modifications and a quality tune between 3500-4000rpms"

Old dyno chart when it made 419/465 24.5psi tapering to 23.
This chart was when I still had stock headers and up-pipe and a catted downpipe too.

Thanks man, thats a nice turbo and gives me a base to compare the 18gxt(r) charts to. So far i can only find them for the 2.0l and I can see the difference. I may just call up a tuner I plan on using and have him send me a dyno sheet for similar setups.

This turbo seems a tad laggy for what Im looking for but I'll let you know if I end up going that route and want your turbo.

This is hardly lag.

Matt I dunno on a 5 speed if he'd wanna do that. It'll definitely be a bit laggy.

Not sure if lag is the proper term when comparing a turbo that spools faster than another. I thought it was? I was using this chart to compare. Very limited info on the 18gxtrs and 2.5liters on the net as far as dyno sheets are concerned. Almost every dyno sheet ive seen shows the xts outperforming xtrs....weird.

XT's make more power then XT-R's but the R's spool 200-300rpm faster.

There might be a 6 speed in the future depending on what I find when the tranny comes apart. This is more of general info thread because there isnt a lot of info on google/forums about specific builds...or maybe Im just drunk and cant internet properly..

Yeah if you go 6 speed less worry about lag since there's a short gear to work with.

I like ball bearing turbos better in the long run.
