Tried to smog protuned catless legacy the other day
yeah some wrx's are a PITA to smog. The RPM's jump everywhere. up then down down then up. just gotta find someone who knows about this and they can manage to use their foot to adjust.

I'm glad I am in the running for thread of the year.
Anyway, so I removed my 3port boost solenoid today and reflashed with a cobb stage 2 map. 2500 rpm holding steady!. I'll bring it back next week to get the catless smog check and see what happens. If it doesn't pass the sniffer then the cats go back on.
I didn't get flagged since I brought it to a "friendly" smogger who didn't care about visual.

Are you guys serious? If the car is in good running condition you might not need a CAT, granted its all based on the fuel mapping of the tune. I have my smog license and I've seen plenty of cars pass CAT-less, my old co-worker had a raced out E30M3 with a split-second tuner and pass with flying colors. . .
Just wait for the results before saying anything stupid.

As long as your friendly smog guy is cool make sure your only running a pre-test meaning mot an official pass/fail test. The biggest worry is if you fail by alot then you might get flagged by the state as a gross polluter, no ****in fun
Let us know how it goes and what your numbers are!
