Yeah, now in addition to having to take our shoes off at security, these guys get to rummage through our stuff to throw away deodorant, perfume, chapstick, lipstick, shampoo, mouthwash and hair products. What a bunch of BS.

Wow... This is so stupid. Now all we need is for someone to make a 'underpants bomb' or something and we will have to fly naked. I feel sorry for America.

Hopefully they will get hot girls to make their pants into bombs... then only the hot girls have to fly naked  I think that would be a big step foward!!!

Its funny to me that when something like this happens everyone b!tches about this and that, but forget about 9/11 and what happened that day. It sucks that we can not bring liquids on board anymore, but if that is how they were going to make a bomb that was going to attack the US, I think it is worth it. Might be a hassle to wait in line at the airport a little longer, but if it means catching the next guy that is going to blow up a plane and kill a few hundred innocent people so be it.

You guys just don't get it. I work security at SFO, and the ignorance of the US public is sickening. I can't get into details but lets just make a point of it that IED's can and will look like anything and it will be as intricate as the person who makes it wants it to be. A contact lens solution bottle full of liquid explosives is big enought to bring a plane down. Detonators are the size of a pen cap, some are merely light bulbs. Batteries can be anything from the common 9v to a polariod or cordless phone battery. The switch can be anything....literally anything...two wires touched together, a toggle, cell phone, or any timing device....**** even an altimeter that alarms when you reach a certain altitude, using the wire leads to the speaker as the switch.

Point is we can do so many things to screen these people...it only takes 4 people from 4 different locations each carrying one component, meet at the restroom passing off the parts. BAM assembled IED and 2 of the people only had to have a battery and some sort of switch. The other a bottle, and the last one a flash bulb detonator.

The idea is to do everything you can to make any potential person realize there plan may not work. Adding the doubt into their mind may be all it takes. Its not that they are scared of dying, yet scared of being caught....then the whole plot is a waste and exposed.

FYI....a light has never been a prohibited item. Lighter yes...and thats federal law....not a rule.

As a side not refer to internet searches for "project bojinka," as this is a repeat of it. We are told that if terrorists fail they will revise and replan. Adapting their ways to achieve success. The WTC is a prime example,.

Don't get me wrong. I totally agree. I much rather not bring liquid on board instead of the posiblity of some idiot crashing a plane and killing hundreds of people. It just ironic that the day that I fly is the day security is going to be the most strict.

that does suck. My GF has to fly from Boston to LA, one of the most watched flights, at 6AM so she needs to get to the airport around 4AM at the latest.

SSFWRX is completly correct. It only takes something the size of a zippo to destroy an entire plane, and if it goes down in the right place, a few building also.

dont get me wrong, im all for whatever neccesary measures need to be taken to ensure the safety of the US. if that means i stand in line a few more hours, so be it, i get there earlier. if that means i cant take my smirnff suprise on the plane, that means i get over my fear of heights and man up.

im not complaining about the security measures at all.. its actually not as bad as some other nations....
