for those who have been lifting for a while w/ the same routine and their gains have come to a halt, yall should look into the 5x5 workouts. the program really works!

I work out at the ones around concord, there are 3 that I go to around here, but mostly the one at sunvalley mall. I just go to the others for a change of pace.

Anyone else ever at the mall one? I see subies there all the time.

Are there any good deals right now? I'm applying for Alameda County Sheriff soon and I need to continue getting into shape.
I have a very busy schedule with work and school and it has made it very difficult to work out at night. But my significant other wants us both to make time to go together 2-3 times a week.
Don't worry...as long as you can run in a circle, hop a couple of walls, and do a few push ups, you won't have any trouble with the PT Alameda has to throw at you.

whats the 5x5 workout?

I noticed that after doing the same workouts from week to week i wasn't getting bigger, so i decided to do different exercises then switch back, and sure enough that worked.
Muscles have memory, so if all you do is bench, you aren't guna grow cuz ur body remembers it.... u gotta trick ur muscles and then they'll grow.

there are different 5x5 routines. ive been following the second article of this page.

http://bodybuilding.com/fun/wotw56.htm

you basically focus on compound exercises (bench, squat, deadlifts), completing 5 reps for 5 sets. you increase weights for each set til you hit your 5rep max on your 5th set. you build upon the 5rep max each week. people have argued that 5 is magic number for the best balance between size and strengh...
