high idle. need new injectors

hopefully, one you guys can shine light on this.

recently, i've noticed my car idles extremely high when I'm driving surface streets...I'm talking about 2K-3K RPM. Once I jump on the freeway and drive for a little while at high RPMs, the problem disappears and it idles normally again.

It's only happened 4 or 5 times over the past couple of months, but it has me worried.

I'm thinking it's time for new injectors? the car only has 75K miles on it...so it sounds a little early, but I don't really know. Or could it be something completely different?

Check for any vacuum leaks as well.

I've had the exact same problem. Try loosening the cruise control cable as it is supposedly over tightened from the factory. I did it about a month ago and I haven't had the problem since. If that doesn't work I'd change the gaskets in the idle control valve like others said earlier.

bad injectors dont cause high idle, usually the opposite.

I dont know of any gaskets that could be changed in the idle air control valve to help anything. Its a solenoid that allowing air to bypass the throttle plate, and the problem is plunger gets coked up with hardened blow-by and other junk and doesn't close properly. Sometimes a good cleaning with carb cleaner, and some q-tips works...most often thats all it takes.

As Mike said a loose/melted or disconnected vacuum hose can do it very easily, and will be a pain to find. Best thing is a vacuum leak is cheap to fix.
