READ that link 100% before you post again. ONLY a police officer can remove a car, truck or what ever off the roadway. That is 100% how Anderson got nailed on mr2oc.
You can not touch anything unless the owner has signed the paperwork over to you. Or its been towed by local PD or CHP and the tow yard has lien'ed it.
If I ever hear of anyone pulling this crap. I will see 100% to it that said person is arrested for car theft. As I stated before. Do it the legal way. Or do not do it!

The vehicles I am referrring to as the OP's situation. There is no one to contact as the vehicle is on private property where the owner of the property no longer wants it there, and no longer exists in the DMV database. I.E. there is no owner. I was simply giving the OP an option.
It would appear the mutually beneficial, and fair thing to do since you have above shown an interest in the vehicle and threatened legal action if this is done is for the city to tow it so YOU CAN BID ON IT AS WELL when the lein sale is placed on it.
I understand and respect where you are coming from. Actually I agree with you it was probably not the morally correct thing to do. I dont hink there is a happy ending to our conversation, so I concede.

NOPE thats what you do if the wrecking yard takes it then they place a lein sale.
If the reg is older than 4 yrs I just walk right into the DMV with the vin and say I lost my vehicle registration and title and apply for a new one....
There is a difference
And please I hope im not giving off that I am shady we were 99.9999% of the time talking about ABANDONED vehicles. I have not done this in like 12 years but I called my cousin an employee of the DMV and asked if this process has changed and she said NO!

I dont need to. Let me hold your hand through this one.

Read the link. Only a police officer on a highway/street or a person directed by the city can remove the car from a parking lot. If the property owner doesnt want to conduct a lien on the car. There must be paperwork filed and kept on the car and it must be pinged in the theft database. The tow company must also file paperwork at DMV. Everything is traceable in case someone pops up looking for their car.
The only way to go thru DMV your way is to lie on the statement of facts stating you have been and was the owner of the vehical before it fell out of the system. And you are requesting a new title because you lost your old title. If the old owner knew what to do. You would be in jail. You stoled a car, lied to DMV to get a title. then sold the car with a bad title.
When the old owner shows up and disputes your claim and has his old title and its clear with a older date. They, DMV will go back and look at all the paperwork filed away and do a audit. And will not care about whats on the DMV computer. They will come looking for you. You will have to show proof otherwise. If you can't bamm.. You are now in a ton to trouble. Easier then busting a walmart shoplifter.
Then they will audit every single DMV transaction you have ever done.
You have no clue as to what you are talking about. And will only end up with someone going to jail. Which I 100% do not want to happen to anyone.
You got lucky in your past. That is all you have. Anderson got busted for the same thing you were doing 10 years ago or how ever long ago. And he got busted about 10 years ago.
Lein sale or signed title end of story.

So you think I am calling your B.S. out so I can try and take the car out from under another i-club member. Wow.... I could go buy two fully restored two dorr cars... So I think I'll pass, plus I would want a r100 anyways. But I see your point. Trying to make me look bad for your car theft in the past.

Like I said I concede. Not the smartest thing to do. I obviously touched a nerve with you and I had no intention of doing so.
I agree you are correct please holster the flame throwers as I forgot my asbestos pajamas at home today.

Just because its not on DMV's system. Doesnt mean DMV doesn't use paper anymore. And that paper is the mother of all back ups.......

Maybe have a car stolen from you. Go thru that pain. Or have someone do what you have done to someone else. And you have to go fight for your car to get it back.

This.
I had my 66' mustang parked at a former residence. The guys I was renting the place (off the books) said it was cool if I left it there for a couple months till I got a place to keep it (was not running at the time). They called a tow company to take it away with out telling me. The tow company held it for 30 days and boom I got a lien notice of about $1400 that I did not have. Lost the car. feelsbadman.jpeg
It was however completely legal, just sucks that they did not call me before it got towed. Funny how it ended up at there buddy's shop.
