You can't do this anymore. Only lawyers for the most part and only with good reason. The Anti-Stalker law put an end to that.

Get the vin or plate and go onto the BAR website and do a smog check. Just ran the plate. No
GO.. Oh well
.
That will give you the last shop that smogged it. Then ask them to look up the record and call the owner to see if they want to sell it.

Removing it without permission is theft. Unless your a towing company. Maybe work out a deal with the property owner to put a lein on it. Then it just needs to stay on the property for 30 days and if no one claims it. You get a clear title from DMV. Talk with the property owner. Maybe they will work with you.

Its a great looking car. I used to own one. Would love to have another some day down the road.

Also a police officer could also run the cars info and get you something, if you know one cool enough to do that lol

Any idea on how long the car has been sitting there??
Tow company only submits the lien paperwork. DMV contacts the owner. Not the tow yard. DMV is not allowed to hand out this info anymore. See my above post.
The quickest way is if you have a PD friend. But even with that can cause a log when PD gets a hit. Which could get your friend in some trouble if they get an audit down the road.

Dont move the car it could be stolen like posted above. Or it could be a friend of the old renter that is trying to move it out of there and doesnt have money to move it til the 1st of the month. Which case you would get busted for stealing the car.

Do it the legal way if you are going to do it. If not track down which towing company towed it and work with them after they do the lein. I know everyone here is smarter then to go steal and car.

Wow, can we overreact a little more? First off, as I explained in the pm, it was a misunderstanding. I never claimed the car with the DMV, I merely got the history of the vehicle, and asked DMV what has to be done to claim an abandoned car.

I was obviously mistaken reading the first post (which doesn't actually say krinkov wants the car for himself) by thinking he was looking for a good home for a nice old school Mazda...

So I'm sorry I misunderstood, but please don't make it look like I stole this car from you. And I don't appreciate the extraordinarily rude pm you sent me swearing about whatva dick I am, and that I can **** myself... Seriously, were adults here are we not? I thought I was on I-club, not nazioc...

At 4 years the car drops out of the DMV database. you go in with the reg and the lic# and apply for a lost registration and viola the car is yours.

Yup. This rx2 hasn't been registered for 5 years so once krinkov picks it up, he can register it under his name. Then he just has to take it to DMV for inspection and he's good to go.
