I usually sleep with my 12 guage mossberg 500 shorty with 8 shot capacity... have a pistol near by just in case too. (Springfield XD-40... 3, 10 round mags).

My other guns are easily accesable for me too... so if I need to reload, I have about 5000+ rounds of ammo ready to go... few M16mags (30 rounders and a 90 round drum) fully loaded at all times.

well its a good thing you have 5000+ rounds handy, god forbid you get caught with only 4000 rounds, what would you do then?

How 'bout your life? Your wife or girl friend's life, your child? Have you ever heard a 12 ga chamber a round? It's pretty a intimidating sound. Nothing says you have to fire.

I keep a small wooden bat I made in high school by my bed as well as a 8 blade. Behind the door is a 42 inch wrecking bar and Wustof-Trident Knives in the kitchen (You could perform surgury with them steak knives) Oh the quirks you get growing up in Stockton California. *sigh* Shot twice and stabbed once. I'm a nice guy too!!!

cheers

when the LA riots happened, and just about all of the law was staying outside on the city outskirts, people resorted to protecting their business themselves.

those who had firearms, used them for protection. i cant forget the news footage of people standing in their stores ARMED.

and i cant forget the news reports of people finding out they needed a 10 day waiting period to LEGALLY obtain firearms...

it doesnt the END OF THE WORLD scenario, but i rather be part of the HAVES, rather the HAVE NOTS...

Guns are evil.
Only the police should have guns.
If someone comes into your house, you should flee.

Before kids we had one in each nite stand. Colt 357 King Cobra on my side and Colt 380 on the wifes. Both with Hypershocks so they would not penetrate the walls (old plaster wall house) but good for cavitation Now that we have little one's in the house every firearm is locked up and has a trigger lock. The hand guns are in an electonic gun vault though like this:

I have something better than a firearm waiting for an intruder. Twice as large as the trap pictured, modified with higher tension springs that requires a ratchet and 10mm socket to set, with a razor-serrated steel spring bar. A carefully-cut piece of carpet allows this device to remain unseen even in the daytime. The intruder may be able to stumble away from the property but the ****er'll be wearin' a new pair of shoes that'll have to be surgically removed.
