So who sleeps with a firearm close by to protect from intruders?

I definitely sleep with a firearm within arms reach. My dad was a cop and that is what we are used to. Some say it is bad and some say it is not safe, I take no chances.

Shotgun is the best (does not go thru walls and hit nieghbors (lawsuit) and no aiming needed) and a sidearm on the side with a knife just incase. My father always said to let the intruder hear that shotgun action and that alone will make them run back out..lol..

I also keep a .38 Super close by, and the M16 not too far away. Just in case. Gotta be protected when you live out in the middle of nowhere.

12ga pump with 2 3/4" #8 shot shells. If they're still coming after you load it, they deserve what's comin'.

Yeah, I don't own a firearm yet... but I have a blade within a few feet and I can use it pretty well. I believe my next purchase will be a 20 guage.

No need. I'd rather they take whatever I've got than kill them. All my stuff is insured, I can get it back with minimal hassle.

i have them STATEGICALLY placed (but hidden) throughout the house...

as well as extra mags...

a lot of good it does when the firearm is at the bedside nitestand and you are eating dinner and a case of in-home invasion happens...

Never been in a situation where I have needed a firearm, hope I never will. Always found a iron bar across the skull (or beer bottle) does the trick and helps keep me in shape.

If you own a gun your more likely to get shot by your own than anyone elses, good luck with that

There's a few of them in the house here and there. Two in the bedroom somewhere, glock 28(.380 auto) and a python .357. The Smitty 686 .357 sleeps in the front part of the house. On rowdy nights(like the dumbasses celebrating Marde Gras in downtown San Jose) I like to bring the python over to comfort me though. I have speed loaders here and there throughout the house and a few extra loaded mags for the glock. If I'm in the middle of the house it's a few steps to the den to bring out the mossberg 12gauge with shortened stock and barrel(still legal by an RCH). I have 95 grain starfires in the .380, and 158 grain hydra shocks for the .357s(I have 180 grain JHPs for home use too, but I'd like to think that if a hydra shock won't stop them, more velocity won't do much good), and my 9 pellet buck shells are the easiest to get to for the 12ga.

Gotta love downtown San Jose........

Just remember any weapon you have can be used against you. I recommend nunchakus. If some gets a hold of them and doesn't know how to use them there's a better chance they'll hurt themselves before they hurt you.

I keep a small wooden bat I made in high school by my bed as well as a 8 blade. Behind the door is a 42 inch wrecking bar and Wustof-Trident Knives in the kitchen (You could perform surgury with them steak knives) Oh the quirks you get growing up in Stockton California. *sigh* Shot twice and stabbed once. I'm a nice guy too!!!

cheers
