So how many ex-/current BMW owners here in BAIC?

I would have agreed with you before my STi, but after waking up to her every morning, i've absolutely fallin in love with the Subaru/STi lines.

Don't forget the crazy ones with the ASA SC kits. -_-
Those guys on the 330s run high 12's. Wouldn't want to see it on an e46 m3!!!

The looks of an E46 is just too plain...I agree the M3 does look a tad bit better with the wider fenders, but it still doesn't do it for me...
Also they suck for the aftermarket as well....those individual throttle bodies help make power from the factory, but sucks for the aftermarket world...you can't just bolt on a supercharger kit like you could on an E36....good luck getting a turbo on that as well...
The 3.0 S50 motor (OBD1) found in the 95 M3 motor is a great motor to mod....the S52 3.2 from the 96-2000 isn't bad either, but the downside is that its a OBD2...still way easier to mod then the S54...but hey if $1500 intakes and $1700 catbacks is your thing then so be it...
Lets say you don't care about forced induction on your BMW...Minor bolt ons like intakes, exhausts, coil packs, throttle bodies, mass air meters, exhaust manifolds etc are dyno proven to make more power on an E36 M3 then an E46 M3....for about 1/3 of the price
btw estoril owns LSB

and E30 M3's are ****in sexy

btw smurf, stop bragging about the cars you have and what you are getting, we all know you are young and rich

i enjoy the sti on track days and the like but the STi is no comparison to the M3 interms of looks etc. the M3 is a straight ballin vehicle that girls <3, is fun to drive, etc.
the money comment was weak, sorry, but you gotta understand that bmw is giving you alot more car for the extra $25k you spend in refinement and creature comforts while retaining a very sportive driving character. it might weight 200lbs more than the WRX but it is very nimble, and what it lacks in agility it will make up for in stability... i went 100mph whenever i could... hit 140mph and the car still felt planted... STi i hit 120 and i feel like im gonna flyyyyy

I know, I know. It's the only Racing Dynamics picture I could find with my quick google search.

Dinan's philosophy is "supercharge it" , and their cars don't even produce that much power. What 400 hp?
I think it's Hartge that used to sell those nice longblock "racing" engines. Those looked really nice, but the cost of those engines is about the same as an average car.
I haven't followed anything Alpina has done recently
Like other's have said BMW's get more and more refined over the year, away from their racing heritage. I do like their straight 6 engines, torquey and smooth, but then again they have to be to lug all that sound deadening material. And don't even get me started on BMW's styling recently.

my friend has an Estoril E36 M3. its pretty sick. i was gonna get an estoril E46M3, but it looks too plain. LSB is more shocking, and i think thats more good than bad... especially by itself.
