Of course, if it is indeed my memory serving me incorrectly, could you link me to a BMW model number page for reference? Not challenging you or anything, just curious more than anything
Hehe, it's funny how much I wished I had a 5.35i back in the day. There was so much stuff that you could do to those wicked inline 6's and that spacious engine bay  And those hydraulic steel bumpers ROCKED!

im also trying to figure out what model you have. E30's(3series) had models that has "e" till late 1988. instead of "i"- 325i /325e. they have changed from a older engine management and basically with the "i" on E30 that actually had a 2.7 motor on it. The E30's with the "e" had a 2.5 but with a real low redline somewhere in the 5k rpm. you said that it is an 88. I doubt that it is an E28. the last year of production for the E28 528e was 1987-actually for that body style it was changed to a E34 by 1988. So which one is it. Just curious thanks

My wife just sold her 91 e30 M3 and picked up a chrysler pacifica BLECK!!!!! It was her car so her choice(her dad bought it for her back in the day, spoiled little priss). It had dinan Stg2 chip, stg4 suspension, M coupe LSD diff and a few other goodies. I loved that thing but it wasn't much of the family car(plus the only time I got to drive it was on long road trips when she was sleepy). The pacifica is a comfy car for long hauls, but how you go from an M to a soccer wagon I'll never understand.

Okay, so I sat down and did my research.
I had a 1988 E28 5.28e. It was a late model and quite rare. The most distinctive difference was the twin barreled tail pipe like the 5.35i had (recall that older 5.28e's had a single tip). Apparently is was offered the last year before the model up to the E34 (you could consider a "minor change" as they say in the auto industry), and didn't sell to well since everyone was waiting for the new model 5.
Are we all clear now?
Oh and thanks guys for all the help! (Edited first post to prevent more questions being asked LOL).

p.s. I agree with you, e46s suck

Can you give your reasons why the E46 "sucks"? I would really like to hear your reasons.

Same reason I think the modern GTIs suck compared to the original, they have gotten away from their original intent. The 3 series, the replacement for the 2002, was supposed to be a fairly affordable car focused more on performance than luxury, the M3 especially so. Whereas the e30 M3 was light and nimble with a bare bones interior and a focus on handling over straight line performance (i.e. the use of the lightweight 4cyl) the latest rendition of the M3 is relativly heavy and less nimble, focusing more on power and luxury. They just seem to miss the mark on being a true enthusiests car. Sure they are super luxurious, but at the expence of performance and for WAY too much money.

plus I find their styling bland and predictable... and I use "suck" in relative terms. As in, they suck compared to previous generations of 3 series cars relative to their competition.
