The CEO of Genentech met with the top people at the company and they have decided to completely fund the employees affected. They are going to pay for hotels, furniture, clothing etc.. for all affected. 2 of my close collegues have lost their houses but at least the company is making sure they are provided for until they get themselves straight.

Makes me thankful I work for such a great company.

Yea, genetech is one of the awesome companies in the bay area, my GF's brother works there. His spot in San Mateo moved out to Dixon near Davis.

You better, I've heard of neglectful acts by PG&E and now one of them finally shoots up in their face. Killed people, homes, destroyed a whole neighborhood.

You were part of the 1.2billion+ that sold their stocks.

Just remember though, most likely PG&E had insurance on the pipes, and so they might be able to dodge paying a large amount out...

In any case, eff the government, and eff the monopolies such as PG&E. I hope they get torn to pieces and better service/companies evolve.

i did my own investigation when it happened i checked it out it was brutal , from 12-3 some of my friends and I purchased coffee , snacks and water and handed them out to the bases for the fire fighters and officers to grab when needed. If you guys are willing to head out my friends and I are organizing a charity bbq and maybe a meet for people to donate and such we will also probably throw a raffle. All proceeds will go to the victims who have lost their houses i will keep you guys updated as we go.

Anyone want to setup an I-Club thing where we all donate money to someone who can eventually turn it in?

I know some of us won't be able to make it to BAM this year, and would still love to help in some way(like me). I say we can setup some sort of online fund and in-person fund at BAM.

From around 7pm-12am I didn't do anything but watch the news. I can't imagine what those families are going through right now. Without a warning, everything they had was gone. It makes me really paranoid about the health of the pipes around my neighborhood and my parents' place.

Exactly how I feel. We've all seen plenty of natural/unnatural accidents but a lot of the times something is left of the behind, some kind of memories . In this case, a lot of homes and everything in them were gone instantly.

If we do setup a donation account, I will gladly donate to it. Not only money but clean clothes and shoes.

Talked with a few tonight and ave will have a donation box for this at BAM. So whoever wants to donate they can with him.

We had a gas leak at our building last year when the city did a bunch of work on the roads and were replacing pipes. We called several times and no one would come out for a couple days when the guy finally came out he said do you realise how many false calls we get.. I said I don't think u should ignore any call even if u think its false. Turns out they didnt tighten the the pipe to our building at all. And that was the gas company them selves. Didn't make me feel very safe at all. Then a couple months later a neighbor was putting in a patio and cut his own gas line and we called again. Took them a week to come out and fix it. That week I got so sick from the smell. Since then I have never trusted the gas companies and always scares me that this same thing is gonna happen in my area.
