People's lives let alone children, infants, etc should never be in danger from a gas company. If anything there should be a mandatory law (gas inhaled is just as dangerous) besides fixing the thing within a day or two.

Too bad people are too interested in $$ to give a rats ***.

Yeah I don't feel so safe when I smell gas. Never had to deal with it until I moved here and when I smell it and report it I get pissed when they blew me off. And when they finally showed up and there sure enough was a leak I asked "don't you guys have equipment to test for leaks after you are done working on the pipes. The guy actually said they usually do check then stated quickly after they smell gas so much they end up not noticing the smell after a while. I got pissed and said that's what your readers are there for. It obviously had enough gas smell cus his machine was hella beeping soon as he opened his door on the street before he even walked on my property. This happened shortly after those few houses up north had a gas explosion. I was so worried we would be next.

And of course, blah blah blah fed investigation will find multiple regulations wrong and never fixed, and we know the rest.

If you had ANY ****ing clue what so ever how gas/fuel lines work, or just how hard it is to find a leak, or the pressure levels we are talking about here, you would not have posted such a moronic post.

Is PG&E libel yes, did they act in danger to life, from what I have seen so far, no.

Gas, fuel lines, and other pipes. Most of them have been there FAR ****ing longer than your house has. You were alerted to it when you bought your house (read your paperwork)

People who whine about "OMG pipes under my house" are the same ones who ***** about air plane noise when they buy a house next to an airport.

People were seriously injured/died, automatic crime scene. No matter what the outcome of the investigation.

This.

Its quite a project to find/fix leaks, especially in high pressure lines. I'll reserve judgement on whether they did they're job correctly or not until AFTER the investigation.

Ok now you are just talking out of your ***. Do you know any employees of PG&E personally? My roommate works for PG&E in the gas department and is literally one of the hardest working guys I have ever met. Working 30+ hours straight is not uncommon for him. And thats not sitting around that literally digging hundreds of pounds of dirt with a shovel if need be. Any job has people that are lazy, thats not the company's problem that is the individuals problem.

And they do come out with a sniffer, my roommate says that if they find a leak over a certain PPM that cannot leave the site untill its fixed (hence the 30+ hour days sometimes). The literally weld on live natural gas lines to pig the lines to be able to repair the leaks, just to keep the affected customers down to a minimum. Now as a welder by trade, I can't imagine the nut check that must be for those guys. Water district welders blow through a live water main, they just get wet, PG&E welders blow through they have a scene like San Bruno.

Use to work for Kinder Morgan, ive seen the maps for every pipeline in the bay area. Hell most the people in San Mateo don't know it, but there is a 26" high pressure fuel line running under their city that moves 10,000 barrels of fuel a hour.

I think the scariest part is that that could happen to any of our neighborhood with natural gas lines...

I can only hope that those affected recover well and that those lost be accounted for...
