Was at Sierra yesterday (Friday) with my Niece and Nephew - great day, not a lot of people . Had some great snow (and was snowing while we were there and as you said, windy at the top sometimes).

Heading to Bear Valley tomorrow (Son, Niece and Nephew) as I'm pretty sure all the other resorts will be packed. Maybe some will stay home and not brave the elements

Any of you guys teach / instruct at all (or know of a good privateer?) I've taught my Son, Niece and Nephew how to snowboard up to S-Turns but I'm hoping to get them more advanced instruction next year. I've reached the limit of what I'll be able to teach them.

I got access to a Cabin in the Northstar Village and was thinking about a 2-3 day session for them next season.

Bear Valley weekend's are still much better crowd wise than Sierra (went there today). It was quite foggy though, visibility up top was less than 50 feet.

Man, I miss when you posted on the regular offering first-hand reports of conditions at 6200'. From what I read in the "old schoolers" thread, it's mos def understandable. Keep on keepin' on, bruddah.

I agree that 'twas busier than usual as Jeff's pic shows. But as Funks noted, holiday crowds at Bear are nothing compared to other spots. I recall riding there on a Saturday of Prez wknd and it was, to our delight, very uncrowded for a peak wknd. Iirc, there was a healthy storm on Thur and Fri so the one-or-twice-a-season'ers likely had trouble getting all the way up to the resort on that bluebird Sat. On Sun, the "crowds" finally showed up, but still there was barely any waiting in the lift lines... like 5-6 deep at its peak. And that's nothing compared to what can look like a concert at a small venue. I remember a random wknd at Heavenly years ago. The approach to the lifts on the upper NV side looked like a music festival where folks were trying to get the best view of 2 different stages... just b0nkers.

That said, I certainly hope none of us here were silly enuff to ride today. The winds are howling today, so no lifts to the top will be running in all likelihood. No bueno... no bueno.

Whistler was pretty damn good. Good snow up top to mid mountain, little heavy and wet as you got down past mid mountain. Visibilty was horrible one day when clouds were just hovering right around mid mountain.

If I were to go again, I'd go and ride mid week and return over the wknd. Lines were ridiculous on saturday and sunday. Some lines were as long as a 30-45min wait to get on the lift.

You needs to join the world of Instagram. We were posting pretty much all wknd while we were there.

Ah, glad to hear y'all had a good time up there despite a fogged-in day and massive crowds. The idea to ride midweek sounds like a sensible plan.

And now that Whistler-Blackcomb became part of the Vail Resorts mega-conglomerate last fall, I might be pulling the trigger on my 1st 'full" season pass ever. Only took me 20 years!

Oh, and I'll look into IG. But then again, in late 2012/early 2013, I told some of my homies that my New Year's resolution was to get a fb acct. LOL

Oh, and I'm thinking of using my Snowbomb freebies to check out itsy bitsy teeny weeny China Peak for a 2-day sesh. So if our annual trip to Bear/Arnold is still slated for St. Paddy's wknd (Fri, Mar 17th thru Sun, Mar 19th), I'm thinking of riding China Peak one of the two Sun/Mon immediately before that... Mar 5-6 or Mar 12-13.

Anyone else down?

Rode Boreal yesterday. Slept in and got there at 11. Shredded till 730. Was gonna leave over an hour earlier. But checked traffic report and saw that it was a lil heavy, so I knocked out another 6-7 runs.

Sux that Flying Dutchman (the lift far looker's right) wasn't running. Too much damn snow that they haven't been able to keep up. But yeah, it's unreal how much snow we've gotten this season to date. Almost every lift I rode had at least one spot where the snow is less than 8 feet from your board. On the 49er chair, a couple skiers jumped off at a spot 3/4 of the way up.

The very low temps have keep the snow in excellent shape! The high yesterday was 24*. Oh, and they had a Subaru event going on, so I scored some free food & swag. I didn't bother coming back at 300 for their drawing cuz I was having a blast hunting pow off the Cedar Ridge chair. They are still up there today as part of a multi-day event.

My stats: Trace

And session sheet:

Which store in the Bay carries Adidas... specifically the Tactical?

And I see your location says that you're in Dublin, so I assume you went to the Any Mtn there for the heat molding. Jeff (stg2lgcy00) actually works there a day or two per week.

Yup, I'm there every single Wednesday and a Tuesday or Thursday here & there. I think I was actually working when Funks brought his boots in because I remember seeing a guy with Addidas getting the heat mold... just didn't know you were from iclub lol.

Btw, I had to sit this weekend out due to prior plans on Sat night & the fact that I've been sick so probably better I didn't go up. As of now shooting for Kwood next Sunday!

Yeeeeee! I'm on board to shred The Wood w/ Jeff & Jordan on Sunday!

Although the forecast calls for a bit of wind, we're also supposed to get 6-10" of fresh Sat nite/Sun morning.

Reports are doubling up.

6-10 Sat. A foot plus on Sunday. You guys will be riding in some pretty heavy snowfall on Sunday. Have fun.

I'm considering a day trip to bear on Tuesday or Wed depending on the weather. Maybe blast up late night the night before and crash at the house so the morning drive isn't as bad.

Wowzers! I hadn't checked the forecasts since Monday night. Not really liking the winds associated with this storm. But Hey! Jeff's connection to rack out on-site on Sat nite is a major score.

For anyone riding on Mon, that should be a killer day on the mtn as the storm is winding down. But Tue or Wed should be good as well. Hope you get a chance to make a run out to Bear.
