rollcall...snowboarding...you know who you are.
Look at all these powderhounds salivatin' in hurrr. LOL
I'm not able to link up w/ Jeff on his trip out to China Peak in a couple days like I had hoped, but I'm still jonesin' for a Friday the 13th (Yikes! jk) day trip.
Cuz it'll be my first sesh of the season and I'm hella outta shape (thanks holidays & fighting a nagging cold/flu) and I won't have time to prep gear till I get in tmrw nite, I'm trying to talk my homegirl into Boreal's $15 Fridays. With a couple lifts open for nite riding there, we don't need to catch first chair and can sleep in a bit longer. And cuz it's so small, we can still hit up every spot on the mountain.
If we ride Sierra (At the Snowbomb expo, we both happened to win the hula-hoop contest "prize" of lift vouchers, and those comps are valid thru Fri then blacked out till March), I just know we're gonna push ourselves too hard (
) to maximize their more-standard hours of operation as well as their more extensive terrain.
I'll check back in a bit to see who says I'm being a pansy. LOL Honestly, cuz it'll be my season "kickoff," I know I'll be hurting regardless of where I ride. Haha. But I'm still trying to minimize my fatigue on Fri and eventual soreness Saturday and beyond. Oh, and I'll be useless on the trampolines and for dodgeball at my nephew's bday party on Sat.

When you say "rental," do you mean that you have a ski lease in Meyers/South Lake that you stay for overniters?
Or are you referring to a season-long rental equipment (ski/board setup) program at the Sierra?
Oh, and we're locking in Sierra for tomorrow's shred sesh.
They just got West Bowl running in the past hour. The backside's still closed. While I'm in no shape for Huckleberry, I'm hoping to quickly get a sense of whether we should venture a bit into Jack's and/or Avalanche Bowls. Even if that's not advisable, there are plenty of goodies off-piste.
But as Ray noted yesterday, we gotta be VERY aware of tree wells and other deep snow immersion areas. The recommendation to stay within eyesight shouldn't be taken lightly... and within earshot is a MUST! If you can no longer hear someone holler back, you have too much separation when riding these spots.
Keep it safe while keeping the stoke factor at infinity, y'all.

Looks like sunday monday for me. Otherwise have fun on the blacks, I am definitely not ready for that. :P
The one&only time I skied was a lesson, rental, lift pkg back in H.S. Then, a handful of years later, I popped my snowboarding cherry there when I tagged along w/ friends who already had a season under their belts. Cuz I was instantly hooked and cuz my friends wanted to ride the next day, I called in to do an afternoon half day sesh.
You're lucky to have an entire season to progress. That first trip was a spring break thing, so I had to wait till the following season to get my next fix. Just keep at it and you'll be ripping it up in no time!
I'm almost tempted to bust out the Reverse Crew I won a couple years ago. Yes, I still haven't had a chance to ride it yet. Last year, I waxed it for a late season day trip that never came to pass. So it's ready to go.
My Bluebird has some storage wax on it. And iirc, that outermost layer is some all-purpose wax... meaning, it's not actually snowboard-specific wax. But there is a layer on universal, all-temp wax under that. Sux that I'll hafta scrape it all and re-prep it.
Plus, when I checked on all my gear last nite, I saw that I'm all outta wax. Gonna scoop some up on the way hm later.
Or should I just take the Reverse Crew out for its maiden voyage? It's a 155. The Bluebird is a 159. And my everyday shredstick is a 152, and it's also in need of a fresh wax.

Bear Valley will be the place to go this weekend. They have been closed due to potential dam break. Wish I could go but screwed up my wrist pretty good. Gunnar be working on the subie instead of riding this weekend.
Nice. If u still have that app (trace AKA alpinereplay) that tracks ur runs, do it. I plan to mostly cuz I'm curious to compare tmrw's stats w/ those of my other "1st days" as well as to those for upcoming shred days this season.
And by "a few buddies," does that mean Justin is calling in?!?
I hope so. LOL
Have fun. Can't wait till we get the whole crew up to Ray's family's new spot in Arnold!!!

No doubt. I'm nursing some cracked ribs myself. Stupid *** trench in the cat road on village size caught me... had my sunny goggles on and the light went flat on the last run. Ug.

Ya it sucks but I'd rather get better and be able to go out strong and not make myself worse. Gotta find some boots too.
I am going this sunday with my girlfriends family. Leaving the bay 5 am sharp, headed to Sierra at Tahoe. Lmk if you guys are up there and I can link up. Don't want to be with her parents all day. LOL
Oof on da ribs, Ray. Get healed up, bruddah.
Though I didn't see it, my homegirl faceplanted yesterday. And cuz she has a pretty burly drink nozzle on her hydration pack, it gave her a decent "punch" to her ribcage when she pancaked. NO bueno. I've bruised ribs before playing tackle football on Turkey Day yeeeeeaaaarrrrsss ago, but there was lingering pain for almost 2 months.
Pingu: Although I'm sure Sierra has their power situation under control by now (HOPEFULLY), it might be a good idea to call to make sure they're all good. Yesterday, they had to shut down around 2:30 cuz of an outage plus their generator went down as well.
And I just saw on Bear Valley's website that they also had an area outage yesterday, apparently due to a downed tree.

Just posted a bunch of boards, boots, and bindings if anyone is interested!
