If the rat keeps coming back to the same area, say the kitchen, you will see rat droppings and/or smell the rat urine. If they are chewing off plastic tops of containers, you will see the shredded tops and evidence the rat has been there. I would place the traps in that area.

If you want to know where the rats are entering your home, you can use a UV flashlight to spot the urine at the outside of your home. That's where they enter. Rats only need a small opening to get in b/c they can compress their bodies to small sizes to squeeze through.

Good luck. I'm hoping to catch #8 tonight. :-)

The airbox on my BMW caught one. The little poison pellets were in there too. His nest was the hood insulation.

I would love to have a VIP Status like that, but it looks like I have to perform some kind of miracle or cure cancer to get that. :-)

Because they are nasty pests. Last year, they got into my kitchen and chewed off the tops of boxes and chewed up plastic bags to get food.

They left lots of rat poo and caused many sleepless nights running around my attic and ventilation system. They also cause my dog to bark at them which has greatly annoyed my neighbors. Last year, they also nested inside the control drawer of my outdoor hot-tub. It smells like urine inside there. The rats also eat up my dog's food when he's not looking. I now lock up the dog food at night.

I only wish I had found out about this trap last year and killed many more. I don't have to roll out the welcome mat to these pests, and they are not going to stop invading my home and yard, and I am not going to stop killing them.

If you post a picture of the rat meeting its demise, I would not object.
