Road Rage
It's not worth it, My good friend got into a raod rage fight years ago and got stabbed 4 times. He survived but got his sciatic nerve in his arm severed. Took him a year of gaming to get 90% of his use back. The other guy got 5 years, all over some b.s.

****, sorry to hear fellas ... but thats pretty much why I want protection with me in the car.
I nearly got ran off the road earlier by two dudes trying to merge while the lane had ended. I honked as they were trying to pass me (there was moderate traffic and cars stopped directly in front of me). Once they couldn't pass they got behind me and started driving very erratic, swerving back and forth and tailgating me... then the really weird part:
As we got to a red light they angled the car in the middle of the lane (no shoulder, just a sidewalk). It looked like they were trying to park and block traffic. This is Monument Blvd in Concord which is pretty busy. My adrenaline started pumping because I thought they were going to get out of the car but luckily the light turned green and I turned on a sidestreet and they didnt follow.
I dont know wtf they were doing... not sure if it was just jackasses goofing off or some crazies wacked out on meth.
Ugh and the other sad part of the story: They were driving a Subaru (looked like an older Legacy wagon... maybe an Outback.)

Yeah atm it may seem logical to fight back, but be the bigger person and drive off.
Years ago, Some 30+ ish old man tried cat-calling my girlfriend as she walked back to my car as I am sitting in it, harassing her (obviously not knowing she was with me)... very surprisingly I refrained from getting out and into his face, rather I confronted him through the window in a not so friendly exchange of words. He said nothing and scurried off to his van and pulled out a crow bar and a hammer... one in each hand. He was about 100ft away off to the side and tried swinging the hammer as he approached. I couldn't help but just start cracking up!!! I went from adrenaline boost fight mode, to hysterically laughing in a matter of seconds. I drove off before he got close as to avoid the lose lose situation. And to think... he probably felt cool standing there with his crow bar and hammer at his side in the middle of the parking lot with people all staring at him.
Those type of people are not worth your time... don't give them the time of day. If for some reason my car didn't start... well now that would have been A WHOLE OTHER STORY. I can see why you would want protection. honestly though, my situation was comical... poor crazy guy.

Hehe - everyones real life stories are making me want/need a hammer in the car even more. If the dudes had gotten out of the car to confront me, I'd want a weapon.
Plus, its not illegal.

make them chase you. call chp. tell them people are signalling you to fight. dispatched will tell you to not pull over, and she even told me to "increase the distance between you and the aggressor". also let them know you did nothing to provoke the crazies.

Having said that, being prepared to defend yourself and actually choosing to do so when you had the opportunity to just leave is different. I mean, sure, if they were the initial aggressor and you felt you were in danger of immediate bodily harm, you may have the right to use "reasonable" force to defend yourself. But let's say your choices are (1) exercising that right, or (2) just driving away. Would you be willing to bet your life just to exercise your right?
There are so many variables in those kinds of situations that there is no way you can say with any degree of certainty that you'd get another chance to just leave. I mean, what if the other guy has a more effective weapon (say, a loaded firearm)? What if he has the same weapon you do, but is better trained? What if he is willing to do whatever it takes (up to, and including, killing you) in order to win? What if he attacks you with fists, and you lose it in the heat of passion and end up bashing his skull in with a hammer?
I guess what I'm trying to say here is, while you MAY win the fight, aside from an ego boost, there is little to be gained. While it may be more difficult (read: hurts your ego) to just keep on driving, it is probably always the better choice.
