Oh HELL YES it's the longest! I will be having a Vietnamese ceremony, follow by a western ceremony (church) then by a Chinese ceremony, then MAYBE a 2 hours break and close with a Chinese banquet. YES IT'S FREAKING LONG!!!

But then I guess it's nothing comparing to Indian wedding... don't they last for few days or something?

so please don't get offended. it is a business question. i am one person that loves all people and never care what they look like or where they come from. i do care what kind of car they drive and how they drive it of course. :-)

Oh, in case you haven't notice already, prices are ALWAYS negotiable! Don't ever take the first offer. Have them customize to your needs. Offer to pay in cash always help as well. Once again, good luck!

Oh hell yeah, prices are def negotiable... We went from a $7k price tag to less than $5k because I;m a smooth talker. Sure, 5k is still REEEEEEEEEDICKYOULESS, but it sure beats 7k! (which means I get to buy a couple of guns instead!)

Yup, my fiance and I have been doing the photographer shopping thing as well. $3500 to $4500 seemed pretty typical and can rise by $500-$1000 depending on extra albums etc. $6000-$7000 is starting to get up there.

One guy's work started at $7900 and went up! One significant difference though was that he would have himself and a second full photographer rather than an assistant. However, the quality of his finished work was incredible. He is a full time photographer and does a lot of magazine contracts, business work etc. as well. Our conclusion was that we wouldn't find anything better - only cheaper.

I've had friends who pulled off the complete wedding in its entirety for < $6000. I've known others who will spend that just on the bar alone. To each his own.

The photography is one area where I personally wouldn't go cheap because, after the day, all you have are the memories - oh, and a wife

The photographer I thought I was going to get for my wedding is not budging on price so I have to find a new one. Bump for Matt's thread, and a bump for me too.

I'd prefer someone who shoots w/o an assistant, but thats not a requirement. I'd also require someone willing to give full resolution digital source files.

Man.. After seeing these prices and such and remembering what my sis spent on hers plus all the hassle dealing with the photographer and getting extras of the extremely expensive square pics - this is just crazy. My wife's brother brought his D70 and I tossed my 20D to my best friend, and there were 2 other DSLRs there. Between everyone that was there (small wedding - 25 people) we collected all the pics and it turned out really nice. Everyone was stoked when they looked through and said "hey I took that pic" rather than us looking at all these posh pics that some dude we will never see again got $5-7k for. We spent that money on road tripping through the UK, going to Spain and Sweden. Sure the pics could have turned out better and yeah I wouldn't have had to spend a couple days sorting through 5 pics of the same thing - but I wouldn't change it for the world. YMMV.

so true. not that i can speak from experience at all, but cmon.

I think putting together albums is what you pay for, also youre paying for the reassurance that you will have pictures with their 4 backup cameras etc. Taking good pics is 1/4 of the deal, just because the couple is walking on the beach doesnt make the guy a pro photographer you know? again this is all my opinion backed with no experience

but for small weddings you want someome that can do it all and that wears camoflauge and stuff
