Thanks for the comments everyone.
Some more details:
1) Price range we are thinking about is under 2500 - much prefer under 2K. I have to agree that 7K is just dumb - i dont care how good you are. I do plenty of my own photography, and I have to agree that 7K is too much.
2) Not an asian wedding - neither of us are asian
2.1) No engagement photos needed
2.2) 8 people in wedding party, incl groom & bride.
3) I dont want 15 iclubbers there - a) you would be 50% of the attendees and b) you would all spend your time rallying the dirt road around the place
4) Its up in the hills near SR in Mid Sept
5) Nikon and JZ - lemme take a look at your stuff and get back to you. Nikon - do you have a link?

btw, my guy charged my little over 6K for 1 day of engagement photos, which includes 9-8 with 5 locations and 5 studio sets. and entire day of the wedding day 8-10. Of course there are **** loads of albums, large photos with frames, 300 copies/3 pictures thank you notes/photos, and little things here and there.
Most of the places I wen to, they gave me their 'best work'. But Michael was willing to give me recent work, best work, and work in progress photos. I like his work because he doesn't photoshop much unless you want him to. He usually only photoshop out people in the background, hair in your face, graffiti, etc.
I am asian, so the wedding day will be LONG. If you are just using him for few hours, I think under 2.5k is not going to be a problem at all.
oh, on my engagement photos, he took ~1k photos for us that day...
good luck with your photographer hunt!

How about you pay attention, einstein. I dont give a rats *** what ethnicity the photographer. I wrote that because I WAS EXPLICITY ASKED IF IT WAS AN ASIAN WEDDING (because it DOES influence the length of the wedding):

PM me your email and I will have her contact you next week. She is currently doing a photo project in Baja and wont be back till Tuesday. But she would be more then happy to discuss packages with you. As far as high res. I am probably not the one to answer that. I know there is an issue with theft therfore the examples remain low res. I hope I answered that right.........But, yea she could show you examples in her studio here in portrero hill.
Hey, Looks like you got a lot of nice photographers there. I did read the $5-7,000 for your wedding is a bit bizarre if you ask me. $3000 or $4000 max, but $7000 is, too much. Good Luck on your Big Day and I do have to say, you "I-club Photographers" need to calm down. LOL, no offense, but If it was MY big day, I would want a guy with a LOT of experience for weddings because it would be a very important day for me that can't be redone. But if you plan to have the pro, and had 5 i-clubbers there to help out, that would be great, more pictures for you. Plus I'm not saying you guys aren't experienced, you all take great pictures.

Now STFU and go misuse the word 'retarded' in the Evo forums. Seriously, Preston, lose the attitude

i just want to tell everyone that i have done at least 200 asian weddings. no one should get offended when we ask if the wedding is asian. asian weddings are usually the longest which means they cost the most. i usually started the wedding at the grooms house early in the morning. then i go the bride's house. then we go to some party before. then the church. after that we go somewhere to take outdoor pictures with the wedding party. after that we go to the party itself. then sometimes i get invited to go to the hotel and do some shots there.
so please don't get offended. it is a business question. i am one person that loves all people and never care what they look like or where they come from. i do care what kind of car they drive and how they drive it of course. :-)

yeah that was a totally valid questions. Every country has a different style Scottish Greek Asian etc.
for example going into a Scottish you may want to have a 90' viewfinder to get those extra low under-kilt shots

who cares what ethnicity they are if they can do the job.
